Re: Hindsight and hypocrisy
On hols so will be brief. If you haven't watched us be utter, utter, utter shite in the fourth then u cannot possibly comprehend how we practically come in our pants everytime we grab a point in the premier league. Not anyone's fault that u are not old enough, or calling anyone out because of it, but it does give u a nice healthy dose of perspective

You're raising stupid points because I have never ever said anything about us being like Bournemouth nor did I ever say I dont concern myself with others clubs, I said I don't concern myself with what other clubs spend on agent fees. I cba to argue with a "fan" who watches now and again from his armchair.Sidney1st wrote:I do watch, but I've explained before why its not often at the grounds.
I do have season tickets sorted out for next season though.
What you're actually doing is using it as a way of dodging the conversation, probably because you're running out of sensibleish answers.

I did point out I was referring to Howe.KRBFC wrote:You're raising stupid points because I have never ever said anything about us being like Bournemouth nor did I ever say I dont concern myself with others clubs, I said I don't concern myself with what other clubs spend on agent fees. Ah good, does this mean you'll ignore what I say from here on in?
Can we talk to each other again next season when I'm attending on a regular basis or will you find another excuse to try and deflect/ignore what I say?
Just so I know whether or not to bother discussing your whiny whinging comments.

I would have disliked him out of spite and asked why we didn't do the same kind of pragmatic play to ensure avoiding relegation.HiroshimaClaret wrote:IF Karanka had kept his job and kept Boro up playing our style of play away from home most on here would have lambasted him.
Lets see what Boro fans actually, in real life, say about us given our current non-hypothetical position.
"...An extremely limited side. But they've got a decent manager, a fairly balanced squad and a clear way of playing that gets the most out of their players. All credit to them for this season and last season..."
"...They've got an extremely well balanced squad in my opinion, every player they have has a specific role to play in the squad and they perform that role well as individuals..."
" He's [Dyche] currently getting more than the sum of their parts from his players so right now he's doing a decent job."
"They are a bang average group of players but they have a decent manager and a reasonably well balanced squad with a clear idea of how to try and win games."
"Doesn't really matter player for player who's better really does it. Burnley are 12 points ahead as they've been a better team than us all season and have had a better manager than us all season."
I cant say I disagree too much, also not mention of our away record as they'd give b*ll*ck to be where we are now and rightly so.

Re: Hindsight and hypocrisy
We are set-up not to compete in midfield, we are set-up to defend and get the odd chance on the break.
If we played 5 in midfield we would become a side who could gain possession and keep possession. SD however does not believe we would be good enough doing this but the little evidence we have had suggests that we might.
We actually look better when Tarka breaks from deep when he is present for free-kicks etc, we become a more dangerous side.
I spent months selecting Mee as centre -back and being met with derision, selecting Ings almost as soon as he emerged, similarly mocked. There are players who you know can add something to the dynamic and solidity of a side but it often takes managers an age to cotton on, and SD is one heck of a conservative soul.

Re: Hindsight and hypocrisy
Mee - he was CB and captain of City's youth team so that idea wasn't your own really, but had merit.
There were more then a few people who seemed ignorant of Mee's usual playing position from his time at City.
As for Tarks, you've nothing to suggest he'd be some midfield dynamo or general, just like you had nothing to suggest similar about Edgar, but you rode that agenda to death too bizarrely and he's now plying his trade in Canadian football

Re: Hindsight and hypocrisy
But I was the only one advocating it on here at the time.
Have you not watched Tarka? he has most of the credentials needed by a holding midfielder plus some, the only concern with him is his desire to attack but that is easily managed within the framework.
You might remember Edgar coming to SD's rescue towards the end of his first season here when played in the holding role. I thought SD might perserver with him there but he moved to 4-4-2 and has pretty much stayed with it since. Edgar was an interesting player, potential but ultimately not the confidence, like many before him he gradually regressed here, possibly in no small part down to Shackell.

Re: Hindsight and hypocrisy
You haven't seen much of Tarks, unless you watched him when he was at Brentford.
There's been very little to suggest he'd be good as a permanent CM.
Cameo appearances are all well and good, but that's what you're primarily basing your decision on.
Same with Edgar.
Tarks will replace Keane in defence next season if Keane moves on as expected.
Will you be demanding we move the next CB we sign into midfield?
That's how predictable you've become about it.
Grezza was a one off for us, yet you seem to think we can do it again.
Maybe we should sign Phil Jones, he's another one that managers seem to think can play in CM when he can't really do it for a sustained period.

Let's not forget you asking for Mee to play the holding role as well.
