2 Changes for tomorrow ...
Heaton
Lawton Keane Mee Ward
Boyd Barton Hendrick Brady
--------Barnes Gray --------
Brady in for Defour and Barnes back in for Vokes from the start.
Brady looked a lot better when he came on and i'm looking forward to seeing our Irish contingent down that flank tomorrow. Hopefully Hendrick can carry the ball more than he usually does which should tear apart their usually decent defence.
Barnes should cause massive problems for them and is the best big man to start with for me too. Barton seems to be off his game a little but got a feeling we'll see a masterpiece from him tomorrow after last seasons Boro antics.
First away win coming up with a 4-1 win. Midfield will be running riot I think.

Given Defour is out this is a strong attacking lineup.

Re: 2 Changes for tomorrow ...
Vokes is very poor as a sub, he rarely gets into the game.Barnes is an excellent sub, he picks the pace of the game up immediately and knows his job.
Barnes is also likely to see a red at any time.
Vokes to start, Barnes after 60mins.
2 changes: ANOther for Defour and we win.

Hopefully it pays off as their lack of prowess up top could mean us being strangled a little elsewhere on the pitch and take us away from our natural game (WBA away and even Lincoln could be evidence of this).Claretmatt4 wrote:Given Defour is out this is a strong attacking lineup.

I like to see Barnes coming on for 30 rather than starting. His game effects a tiring defence so much more than that Vokes offers in the later stages - even more so when he comes off the bench to terrorise weary defenders.minnieclaret wrote:Vokes is very poor as a sub, he rarely gets into the game.Barnes is an excellent sub, he picks the pace of the game up immediately and knows his job.

It probably goes without saying now that bfccrazy will have the team correct, but if we win 4-1 tomorrow, I will be really impressed !

Likely to see a red at any time? So he's had two red cards in his time at Burnley, both for two yellows. I don't think that comes close to being likely to see a red at any time.minnieclaret wrote: Barnes is also likely to see a red at any time.

I cant believe you've put Brady on his preferred side...
You just know Dyche wont do that

I'd like to see Westwood in for Barton. Barton has looked poor for the past 2/3 games now. He looks knackered.

Went to WEst Spam and Watfor and expected us to get something. I feel tomorrow is the time. I think Brady will be key tomorrow. Finding his feet and he brings pace. I really believe our midfield will boss tomorrow. One niggling thorn in all of this optimism t is Negredo .

How come team line-ups are known the day before?bfccrazy wrote:Team news is correct.

I always thought they'd be announced about two hours before kick-off.

I'm not liking the huge gap between Heaton and defence though. That could invite some unwanted close offside calls.BleedingClaret wrote:Heaton

Theres still puddles in that bit of the pitch from Karankas tears. We know how dodgy Mees footing can be so I've kept him out of that area.FactualFrank wrote:I'm not liking the huge gap between Heaton and defence though. That could invite some unwanted close offside calls.

Re: 2 Changes for tomorrow ...
Seems a sensible enough team to me.
Still prefer Arfield to Boyd, especially away from home, because he helps us keep the ball better with more composure, but in fairness Boyd will rightly keep his place after the other night and Brady gives something different.
Barnes is imperfect but he's a much better combination of the target man Gray needs and the ballast Barton in particular needs in midfield (especially away from home) than Vokes.

Boyd seema to come alive during the run in - we should sit him on the bench for the 1st 3 quarters of every season and then let him looseclaretspice wrote:Seems a sensible enough team to me.

Re: 2 Changes for tomorrow ...
I'm liking the match up of Brady against Barragan, i don't rate their right back at all, I'm sure Dyche may well switch our wide men from time to time as well as their left back will not be up to a whole lot either with Fabio and Friend missing.
Big chance for Gray to test Gibson as well tomorrow , he had a shocker at Hull and he needs pressing early doors.
Interesting how we deal with Traore tomorrow who is electric, hopefully his final ball will continue to be as woeful as usual, we may have problems if he's on his game.

That said Barton has the big game experience and mentality. Westwood has a lot of top flight games, but I feel Joey will organise better especially alongside Hendrick and Brady.

Re: 2 Changes for tomorrow ...
Good to see Brady start. I am optimistic tomorrow about him. Just a real shame that JBG wont be involved.
I would be tempted to start Vokes as we seem to score more with him on and Barnes is better from the bench than vokes.

Is releasing the team news, on a public messageboard and ahead of the day, a wise idea? Perhaps maintaining the apparent trust of your source would be better and there is a chance that the opposition could benefit from early knowledge?bfccrazy wrote:I've mentioned it before - team news are "announced" a couple of hours before kick off but is known earlier.

I mentioned on the post midweek that we didnt pick up a win whilst I stopped doing this. I did it for the Stoke game and we won.
If it's helping the opposition then long may it continue.

Would think Gray in particular will be targetting the space inside and behind their left back and we'll need Barton and Lowton in particular to have their passing range tuned to make the most of it.bodge wrote:I'm liking the match up of Brady against Barragan, i don't rate their right back at all, I'm sure Dyche may well switch our wide men from time to time as well as their left back will not be up to a whole lot either with Fabio and Friend missing.

Traore will presumably be a test of Brady's tracking back and that might be one reason why we do switch wingers occasionally.

It's also one of the few threads that have some really good input from people about their views, dis/likes and preferences on the team ad how it could/nt work rather than breaking down into slanging matches and dick measuring contests.DCWat wrote:If it's a successful superstition, I'm all for it!

Re: 2 Changes for tomorrow ...
Barton's influence on this team remains significant, whether he is at his best or not. Until we're mathematically safe he should start every game, assuming he remains available for selection. Westwood looks a decent enough long term successor but we'll need a leader in there tomorrow, it will be a much tougher game than some seem to be expecting. A dour 0-0 would be fine.

Re: 2 Changes for tomorrow ...
Sensible team selection if true. Don't know why but Vokes has lost his 'mojo'.
1-1 draw for me. But Brady from the start might just give us our first away win.

Re: 2 Changes for tomorrow ...
Not much in it for me between starting Vokes or Barnes, but agree that there's more effect when Barnes comes on late second half.
Thing is if Brady starts then Barnes winning free kicks in good areas could be a game changing tactic.

Was a bit silly for Barnes to get involved for the initial yellow. Though I have found refs to be very wishy washy with punishing dissent.CharlieinNewMexico wrote:bit worried about Atkinson reffing and Barnes starting after Hull...
He should be fine though as he usually calms down if on a yellow.

But if your only one away from a ban and you get carded this weekend you serve your ban

In my opinion he's an over-robust player who uses everything he's got and never ducks a challenge. An over-zealous referee will one day have him off.

Barnes is niggl y player and gives us an edge. That said the el ow was a bit uneccessary even though I don't think thee was much contact. I prefer him from the bench though to ruffle defenders when tired. The rest of the team are so honest with no diving and getting up quickly after being brought down we need a player like Barnes.
