I was recently asked to "volunteer" not travel on a BA flight from Heathrow, politely said prefer to travel and they said ok, I was asked as I was very early for check in, I flew but some passengers to the offer and volunteered not to fly, 800 pounds, night in good hotel plus dinner/breakfast and first flight out next morning. Very tempted but just wanted to be somewhere.
But the difference with this incident is that whilst you were asked at checkin (which is the usual way of dealing with these situations), in this case everyone had been checked in and had boarded the plane. Damn sure most people would not have been happy to have then been told that they had been chosen to give up their seat!

Hi C-C, I don't think the 4 United flight crew were "on a jolly" - I believe it's been reported that they were needed to crew another flight from the destination. Very likely that there'd been some flight delays somewhere in the system and the original crew had run out of flying time, so a relief crew were being flown to destination to crew that flight.

But, United still made a "big mess" of how they handled things.

I might not think United are to blame for what the police did, but the memeing over this has been brilliant.

If he was a doctor then why didn't he deal with the issue intellectually first i.e. reason the situation out? The problem with these scenarios is the input of upset and emotion to scram the intellect. Nobody has brought that one up, but instead it's another anti-intellectual propaganda victory for the media and captious b*tch behaviour.

The same with the bloke at the receipt of a few rowdy fans of the Paris Metro. Anyone with any sense would have avoided that carriage and immediately gone to another and got in that one and avoided the scenario, no problem, just a group of idiots maybe and why want to get on that carriage anyway? Anyone with any sense would just go further down the platform, but the bloke instead chose to get into a silly conflict which played into the hands of the anti-intellectual captious b@tch media to further fuel the divide an rule strategy among the general folk.

They were security guards, not Police officers as the term law enforcement suggests. There's a world of difference.

I wonder what made the security guard in question think that dragging him off the plane like that was a good idea? It seems like red mist may have taken over!

It's not just the dm reporting the doctors past, the New York post are too.

That cannot be a real headline surely?

I'm surprised it doesn't have as the subtitle:

Who would have thought you'd have pointed the finger of blame there.

Is that a headline or a short story?

I've seen science manuals with shorter titles.

They forgot to mention that he farted in our mothers faces in a lift, oh and they didn't put ..so there! at the end neither.

Bordeaux Claret this is the era of captious b*tch media that brooks no critique, like a captious b*tch woman or man, who are being paraded before us as the media overlords and the more the backlash the more indignant they get, so one gets the reactivity where folk are perceived to be racist, sexist and homophobic, not as a response necessarily to such individuals but to the media portrayal of them as being 'of media' royalty.

The effect is a whole nation suffering emasculated rage and the more any of such individuals are 'attacked' the more they can bang the drum of seeking 'equality' and to lecture us all for not 'respecting diversity' to bash us all further to create more emasculated rage ad infinitum, to confuse divide and rule.

Something will give, to be sure.

Being reported that the Daily Mail have got the wrong man's story.

The person they're describing is David Anh Duy Dao.

The bloke manhandled off the United flight was David Thanh Duc Dao.

On the day that the Daily Mail was ordered to pay millions to Melania Trump for a story they fabricated, it looks like they may well also have another significant payout soon.

Quite why they went with the angle to attack this poor bloke in the first place is anyone's guess, but it's more than likely it's because it's a horrid rag for *****.

not really a big difference to be honest, was trying to point out that they continue to ask at check in, will you take an offer not to fly, difference is some people on a full will take the offer, at check in I have never know them to actually state, you can not fly, as they look for volunteers. In this instance obviously no one did, therefore senior people take over and go through the manifest as explained and "decide" who is not going and they have every right to do this.

It is a law, whether you agree with it or not is irrelevant, people breaking laws get arrested and carted off all the time. Was it right no of course not, as said cabin staff asked, TSA staff asked, then some yahoo in a uniform comes on all heavy handed and hey presto world wide news. Remember the other 3 of the 4 told to leave did without incident and were compensated. Also note said yahoo has been suspended and will likely lose his job, which he should. Once the cabin crew turn something over to TSA they no longer have any control.

hope this helps with my thought process

So you'd be happy to check in, get on the plane, take your seat and then be told to get off!!!

Not the first time this has happened:
http://www.latimes.com/business/lazarus ... story.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Btw, what constitutes a reasonable request to leave the plane?

Are they simply allowed to drag you out of your seat without asking you first?

no you don't, I would have to write chapter and verse and at the end you would never understand my point so trying to share ideas with you is futile, I hope you understand that answer.

It's a bit of a myth that in America they just hand out doctor titles for anything.

I've just checked this guys official status and it's bona fide - his formal title is Doctor of Very High Pitched Girly Drama Queen Screaming.

Or in short Dr of V.H.P.G.D.Q.S.

Reports I've read say that he got his doctor qualification in Vietnam - before moving to USA.

I've no idea if he is from the Vietnamese boat people generation or emigrated from Vietnam later.

Based on his age, it's a fair guess he lived through the Vietnam war and the changes in Vietnam that followed the communist victory.

Times reports this morning that he's started legal action. His lawyers have requested that all the cctv, recordings of united's boarding announcements and other records are preserved - standard "discovery" process, if you have any experience of US legal system.
