Is Tarka too much of a free spirit to ever make an SD side?
I fancy Tarka is just too much of a free spirit to sit comfortably into a rigid system. This side needs some free spirits but I can see him plying his trade elsewhere.

NO he just isn't seen as a better option than our 2 other Centre Halves currently and I couldn't disagree.

Here we go again, the almost daily thread started by the same poster on the very same subject. Obviously, because he doesn't watch us play, he won't be aware that James Tarkowski is a central defender and is our third best central defender.

Tarkowski is a far better footballer than either of our centre-backs.

Oh dear.
Are people really going to bite on this? 2 central defenders, one in the England squad and the other arguably on the verge....
Hmm, I've been unsure for a while, but I'm becoming convinced that ABC really is all that he is accused of being!

May I ask what you have witnessed in his play means he is a free spirit?

Some old timer on here was complaining about Dyche's tactics.
Thing is once you get the heavy stuff right, then you can add the flourishes. It's the same with art, you get the key into picture.
One gets the foundations right and then you build the ornament.
Dyche is building the foundations right before he adds the ornament, so maybe the maverick players can come in once they've got the right backing from the basics.

Didn't you see him break into a song and a little dance at Stoke.Cleveleys_claret wrote:May I ask what you have witnessed in his play means he is a free spirit?
And the game when he was at Brentford when he pulled a pigeon from up his sleeve.
We need more Mavericks in the team.

Ablue seems to have a permanent hardon for substitute defenders who aren't in the first team.
I reckon if he underwent regressive hypnosis there would be a root cause for all this - I wonder if he was himself a substitute centre half who was never picked to start the games and this has affected him psychologically moving forwards?

Sorry Braindead started as a right back then a centre half and then a centre forward.

Tarks is class, it would be a travesty if he isn't given an opportunity next season

Lethal with both feet like Mike Thresher.
Re: Is Tarka too much of a free spirit to ever make an SD side?
You only think that because you don't think defending is part of football. (Is your assessment based on his performances for Brentford, or do you regularly watch the reserves?)ablueclaret wrote:Tarkowski is a far better footballer than either of our centre-backs.
