Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
Rumours are Zola has been sacked. Birmingham will survive now.

Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
There'll be a few strange results before the end of the season.
Maybe Brum will win a couple. Yes, maybe pigs'll fly.
Let's just believe Venkys are on the wrong end of some.
You just don't know......

Forest have kept them up IMO.
I said if they only got 2 points or less this weekend they were did. 4 isn't a bad return at all.
They could have been all but down now.
They've certainly had plenty if luck, it just doesn't look like running out just yet

No easy points for Rovers. Wolves and Brentford away will be tough. Villa might be their best chance for points but if they lose at Wolves then they will be under mega pressure.

3 games against teams with nothing to play for.
Hopefully they'll clock off.

The Fat Lady is aboard and ready to sing.
Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
Zola has now gone at Brum but hard to see anyone reversing their decline in 3 games

Forest are doomed. They can't buy a win at the moment. If Rovers win one of their remaining they'll be safe. Shame!
Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
Certainly an interesting run in at both ends of the table
On current form you'd have to say it's a toss up between
Birmingham or Forest to go down. I think Rovers will escape - it's a last day of the season job.

Eh? They'd just beaten Huddersfield the week before they lost to Blackburn
Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
3 wins in 17 hardly smacks of a team in form. Dropping like a stone. Almost as badly Birmingham! Bizarrely 2 of the 3 wins came against Brighton and Huddersfield, but they were anomalies!Winstonswhite wrote:Eh? They'd just beaten Huddersfield the week before they lost to Blackburn

Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
They seem to have a knack of playing **** and picking up points lately which eventually evens itself out... We can only hope.
Franlly if they don't go down they are frigged next year. All their best players are either out of contract or on loan. They will be Rotherham-esque next year if they stay up

Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
I'd prefer them to be Coventryesque next year if I'm honest. They do get a lot of luck. No, I don't mean being at the bottom is lucky, but just that they don't seem to drop. I'm sure in the 80's and 90's they had some close runs with relegation to the 3rd tier, by just survived when Burnley dropped. Even Wolves were in the fourth division with us.

Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
No. They were solid performers in the second tier. Just one season where they flirted with relegation
Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
As 2 other relegation candidates are in a bitch vein of form, unfortunately, there's more than a glimmer of hope for Rovers now. If they do scramble clear we can console ourselves with the happy memory of watching them squirm uncomfortably for just about the whole season gone by.

Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
I think Rovers will lose at Wolves and Brentford, but probably beat Villa.
That would put them two points above the line, without taking into account any points
accrued by the rest of the dummies around em. I'd take that.(Rather they lost all three, like.)
Still think they're in bad trouble, specially with their poor GD, which might be
very important if they tie on points with another side.
In fact, goal difference may be vital, it's so close.

Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
I can see Rovers getting a point at Wolves and winning against Villa. So Forest basically need to win a game. Just one game. However I don't see them getting anything against Reading, which leaves them needing to beat either QPR away or Ipswich at home. It's going to the last game in my opinion.
As a footnote Rovers have picked up more points than anyone else in the bottom 5 over the past 10 games (11 points). The fact is they're on a slight upward trend compared to the others and that might just see them through.

Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
Birmingham probably need 1 win. C`mon `Arry. That would put them 5 points ahead of Rovers who I think will get 4 although none of their games are easy. Forest also need at least a win but who knows. Maybe agent Mowbray can throw in 3 straight losses. Wolves , Villa and Brentford are all decent but all have nothing to play for ! Squeeky bum time at Deadwood.

Re: Will Rovers escape the BIG drop ?
An interesting bit of information I'd forgotten about.
Clubs in league 1 and 2 have wages caps of 60% in relation to turnover.
That possibly explains why there haven't been mentions of new contract negotiations for half the squad who're out of contract in the summer.
They're waiting to see what league they're in next season before they do anything.
If they get relegated I'd expect to see some massive changes to their squad, possibly a good number of youth players getting promoted to the first team.
