Made to measure Walking Boots

Post by CaptainKirk » Wed Apr 19, 2017 10:43 am

Struggled for years to get comfortable walking boots due to my old and misshapen feet. Been to all the usual outlets with different degrees of success over the years until someone mentioned the made to measure route.
Has anyone got any experience of this?

Just going to suggest them - King Street Whalley.

Thanks for the replies.
I went to Whalley a year ago. They had a good look and then sent me on my way: "I could sell you some boots, but with those feet you need something made just for you". That was good of them as I was ready to spend in there.
I will give Altberg a look.

have had similar problems but actually went a different way, got insoles which were made for my feet, FootStop, Jalas, worked really really well and have a couple. You can find them online.

you step on a machine and it measure all your feet parameters individually and hey presto you get insoles that really work, not cheap but they are yours and you can actually change them out to other shoes if you wish.

The Footstop service looks interesting - are there any outlets in Lancashire?

A friend of mine has mis shapen feet and bunions. The only walking boots off the shelf he has found that are suitable are Brasher. I don't know if you have tried these but if not it may be worth a look?

Yeah, not cheap but if it means you can pursue your hobby pain free, then maybe worth a try.

Are you doing the mileage and terrain that necessitates boots?
Are you after leather or soft tops?
Good luck.

Somewhere like Ambleside or Keswick has multiple shops for hiking boots, maybe worth a trip?
