Forst goal defending

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Sun Apr 23, 2017 3:06 pm

Why didnt Barton take him out on halfway when it was clear what was happening? Take one for the team! Same happened with Pedro.

Just take a booking there.

Barton overcommitted in the first place, which is why Martial was able to turn. He should have stood him up and forced him to lay it off.

That was his first error. After that, yes, he should have knocked him down and taken a booking.

Had a difficult half has Joey. Lucky not to concede a penalty.

Really poor decision from Joey. You just have to take one for the team in that position.

I agree that he could've taken a booking, but if he'd been sent off he would've been crucified on here for diving in

No he wouldn't. It was a schoolboy error not to take him out by Barton.

Yes he would, he's getting slated now for playing poorly, you'd easily be able to multiply that if he'd been sent off so early on.

This board is predictable like that.

He didnt need to get sent off just a clever foul. Pull the shirt or clip his heels.

He was behind him, unless it was serious foul play he would never have been sent off. I was screaming chop him down for what seemed like an age. Thought Joey with all his experience would have took one.

Very poor game management from Joey today. It's been coming, but has to be his worst performance in a claret and blue shirt, and the last few haven't been too good either.

A red card would have been a shocking decision, though we do get them from time to time. I was among those shouting out "take him out now". It was an obvious yellow to take for the team, and if Dyche had concerns about a 2nd, then he could have replaced him with Westwood.

Think Joey has looked like a player who knows he's leaving in the summer for a week or two now.
