Manager of the season

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Sun Apr 23, 2017 11:18 pm

Can anyone look beyond Allardyce?

If Silva keeps Hull up, possibly him.

But Allardyce, the start to the season he had. The shape he picked Palace up in and the run in they have. He has done an outstanding job yet again.

No doubt Conte will get it.

I would tend to look at someone who has been manager for a season. And I wouldn't give extra credit for losing the "easy" games but winning the "difficult" ones. And I don't like Allardyce anyway - especially when they show extended TV shots of him chewing with his mouth open.

If your choosing between them 2 then Silva hands down for me partly because allardyce is a smarmy two hat

Conte will get it.

BFS and Silva can do one though.
Players these days are a fickle bunch of mercenaries who will turn on a manager If their agent tells them too. The goal this season was survival and If Dyche can do that on our budget and wage bill he's my manager of the season. None of this new manager bounce rubbish.

Silva for me, I'm not sure how he's transformed that awful Hull side. Incredible, Bruce walked away in the summer, they even lost their two best players In January. He has recruited players to fit the system he wants to play unlike Dyche. We continue to knock it long to Gray, probably the worst striker in the air. If we are going to play that way at least buy a Crouch, Kenwyne Jones type striker.

Yes, Silva has done well at home, but he's done absolutely nothing to address their away form, unlike Big Sam or even SD who at least has managed a few draws.

And even at home we were the better side against Hull.

So you'd give it to a manager who's won against the same teams we have (Swansea aside) but who's got a worse away record than Dyche in the same period.

Oh well. Your hatred of Dyche knows no bounds.

Hull at home we weren't very good at all. Don't let the last minute equalizer think they were fortunate.

I didn't see Hull away so can't comment on that.

Wait, remind me why they need to win away when they're winning nearly every home game? He's been there two minutes not four years.

Silvas record is very good. Hull are a bad side and like above lost two key players when they were already struggling.

Their success was built round Snodgrass and Livermore. Its akin to us losing Keane and Heaton in January and actually doing better!

If we stay up its Dyche for me. When you get down to the finances of our well run club, added with our small squad and then do a comparison with other clubs in this league it would be outstanding what he had achieved. I agree BFS has done well but just look at his squad by comparison.

If we finished 12th then Dyche would have a shout, but just staying up by the skin of our teeth although a good achievement isn't spectacular.

Chelsea winning it after last years poor season is nailed on.

Conte for sure, don't really see how anyone can look any further
others have done well including BFS, whether you like him or not is irrelevant it's supposed to be on merit, but they have not done as well as Conte.

he should win it, I hope he wins it, I expect him to win it

none event really

Allardyce made things worse for Palace to start with - remember their shocking 4-0 home defeat to Sunderland. Of late though, apart from the blip at Southampton, their form has been outstanding, especially when looking at who they've played.

MR Dyche without a shadow of a doubt after what the gaffer has built for us. We will finish mid table this season and push on the next. Nobody has built a legacy at Burnley Football Club more than the gaffer.

The Barnfield training centre should be called The Dyche training centre ! He made it happen

Silva at Hull for me, thought they were dead and buried, he's showed he can be flexible playing a variety of formations including 352, 541, 433, 4231 and 442.

In fairness when he came in he said it will take them two months before they start to do well. Which has been the case. He wasnt worried after sunderland sign of a man who believe in what he does. And with good reason.

I thought the england failure may be the end of him. But far from it. Vey good at what he does.

Interesting stat too.

Allardyce is not only above old club west ham. He is also above every single club he has ever managed. All of which had fans who think they knew better.

If most clubs Redknapp left went tits up financially, most clubs big sam leaves fail to get to the level he had them at

I really do think Coyle should get it if Rovers go down.

He's done an outstanding job at every club he's been at since walking out on us. Now which other club can he ruin?

But it's also worth noting he's never been able to turn a club round without spending money. Palace spent more than anyone in the Jan transfer window. He only goes to clubs who allow him to spend a small fortune.

Granted but that guarantees nothing. At any level.

Bit of a left field choice but I'd opt for Ronald Koeman. Considering the progress Everton have made and the youngsters that are involved.

Derek Adams started with 4 professionals on the books in June, but made promotion.

Tony Pulis. Started the season with a handful of journeymen, added a few more journeymen, found a style that could bring mid-table consistency.
