Little Boy Blue

Post by Quickenthetempo » Tue Apr 25, 2017 11:48 am

What a heart breaking program that was last night. As a parent of two boys around the same age it doesn't bear thinking about.

I remember the case at the time but when you put all the little details in it really brings it home. The one thing I am glad about is at the time I didn't think the public were coming forward enough to help but it showed last night the detective being cautious with all the information rather than no help.

A real tear jerker especially when the porter at the hospital put all Everton bedding on where he was at rest.

Now God wanted a football match

And to play it up in heaven

But first he needed players

And select his first eleven.

Georgie Best, big Brian Labone

The legend Dixie Dean

Alan Ball and Bobby Moore

All made it in the team.

He needed one more player

Someone who would be quick

From up above he looked down

And saw Rhys there in his kit.

So Rhys was taken up above

God took him by the hand

To play the game he loved so much

Where sponsorship is banned.

There is no cheating either as

God is the referee

There are no mega wages

And the transfers they are free.

The games are live on telly

You don't have to subscribe

The players all stay on their feet

Cos no one takes a dive.

So Rhys plays now so happily

To the angels in the crowd

And every time he hits the net

They roar his name so loud.

Have fun my little blue boy

You're safe and in God's care

Till it's time for me to get my boots

And join with you up there

Rhys Dad's poem to his Son.

Lovely from Stephen Jones

Probably the most moving poem I've ever read.

Recorded it and not watched yet

But I really shouldn't read things like that when I'm at work

Interesting to see Stephen Graham playing a police officer. A fine actor and no one portrays someone on the wrong side of the law better than him.

Agree it was heartbreaking. It's in 4 parts so it will be interesting to see how the scumbags who did this and left that little boy to die are caught. Can't begin to imagine what that does to a family.

As a parent myself to two lads it really was a difficult programme to watch. I really don't know how you get strength to carry on after something like this happens.
