I'm sure we'll go on posting because we believe in what we say, no matter whether others join in or not, and as you should know by now insults really don't affect me at all I've had them thrown at me for nearly 10 years now.
And by the way Krbfc and yourself show more signs of pavlovs response by the predictable postings when Burnley get beat.

Re: We are losing control of our own destiny
its quite odd to hear fans using expressions as crass as "grow a pair" to describe any supporter who is not blindly optimistic in face of all the facts.
I've seen it all before, the know it all types with their homegrown stats guides and bookies odds, their so called magic numbers blah blah.
But, when it has gone wrong before, there has been a virtual tidal wave of negativity on here, and not just from a tiny minority.
If your team is losing too often and the possibility exists that there wont be enough points in them to stay up with a few critical games left, how is that not a valid issue to be debating on a Clarets messageboard ?
Unless you have ice running through your veins, most fans do tend to get a bit passionate one way or the other. Those that criticise the doubters must be real bores. Imagine never thinking things might go wrong. And, if we survive, it wont have a thing to do with their inane sodding optimism.
Told you so.....is basically what they'll have left in their lockers to pour scorn on anyone who disagreed. Idiots !!!!

Barnes is only really a glorified 4th Division player (as is Boyd). Both lack the skill to play at the top level.

Vokes is simply a very good player who's seen his day. No shame in that. But, in his prime, he was probably the most clinical player we've ever had. Just doesn't have the legs to get there anymore.

Actually, there's a lot of similarity between Vokes and Rooney. Did you see how he just zipped in there to score his goal after the hand ball? You simply can't teach that. It's beyond coaching.

Once saw a video with Rooney playing goal during a ManU practice. You've never seen better goaltending. Amazing stuff. Just a born athlete.

Re: We are losing control of our own destiny
by virtue of being in the top flight, they are all premier league players .
A lot dont think Gray is up to it, same applies to Barnes as you mentioned.
Difficult to gauge really. Is Lowton ? Is Brady ? Arfield, Boyd .
There's a fair bit of the emporers new clothes going on when fans take a dislike , it spreads like wildfire.
Boyd always attracts the angry mob for example. It happened constantly last season, until he was clearly exceptional, and then all the detractors vanished as if by magic.

Re: We are losing control of our own destiny
Yes, but inconsistency is a bad thing in itself. The best players simply don't have bad games. Look, Barnes plays a role which is sorely needed. Same for Boyd. But I think Boyd's run his course. That's a sympton of age. They flag for awhile before rallying and then go into terminal decline. No shame. It happens to us all, eventually.

Re: We are losing control of our own destiny
I take your general point about players in decline Ontario, but you are suggesting George Boyd is fading due to age, when the truth is he is the epitome of fitness.

He's progressively got worse as a footballer since joining us.Wile E Coyote wrote:I take your general point about players in decline Ontario, but you are suggesting George Boyd is fading due to age, when the truth is he is the epitome of fitness.

and what are you basing that assessment on?KRBFC wrote:He's progressively got worse as a footballer since joining us.
you could say the same for the team as a whole.

Once a flair player, he doesn't have any creativity in him these days. It's been ran out of him.Wile E Coyote wrote:and what are you basing that assessment on?

Re: We are losing control of our own destiny
So with Keane a target for bigger clubs, is he not at fault for being a part of a back four that has conceded so many goals and cost us vital points.
Is Gray to be thought of as a flop because by comparison, other players who does what he's supposed to do regularly score goals.
Boyd has a tough old time of it , he can't be expected to be some incisive magician in Burnleys team. Its usually just a very rigid slog for all of them.

He's 27. When were those happy days when he was fast?ontario claret wrote:Vokes is simply a very good player who's seen his day. No shame in that. But, in his prime, he was probably the most clinical player we've ever had. Just doesn't have the legs to get there anymore.

Still, at the grand old age of 27, he's past it, so it's all academic!

Re: We are losing control of our own destiny
Well, it's an opinion, Fidel. Name somebody in recent times who's done better. Vokes and Ings had a mutual understanding, but I think they were on a par when it came to scoring on half-chances. Some players are done at age 27, especially when they're told to plough a long furrow all by themselves quite often. There's this thing called "chemistry" in team sports. Some have it, lots don't.

"Quick" and "fast". Two decidedly different things.

No. You said he was the most clinical player we'd ever hadontario claret wrote:Well, it's an opinion, Fidel. Name somebody in recent times who's done better. Much as I admire Vokes' contribution to our success in the last few years, I doubt he'd be up there with the likes of Pointer, Lochead, Irvine et al... or even Charlie Austin for that matter, if we're talking about being clinical.
Keep clubbing the seals mate.

Re: We are losing control of our own destiny
When you look at the form guide going into the last four matches we are well in control of our destiny. Not even bottom of the form table!
