O/T Call of Duty WW2.

Post by Sidney1st » Wed Apr 26, 2017 10:46 pm

Anyone else looking forward to this?

Black Ops 2 was the last good one for me, the last 4 games have been pretty naff in my opinion.

WW2 should hopefully rejuvenate the franchise though when it's released in November.

Now to decide if I should book sometime off work when its released....

All these franchises go down the pan when they get such a large audience and yearly outings.

Call of Duty, Battlefield, Assassins Creed, Far Cry. Even Fallout 4 was disappointing as they had to make it for the lowest common denominator.

Really fallen out of love with First Person games. Player Unknown's Battleground about the freshest thing out there right now in terms of multi-player.
I'm upgrading this summer and will give the Deux Ex, Dishonored and Mass Effect sequels a go when I can play them all shiny.

I'm getting myself an Xbox for Xmas and one for my boys, so I'm going to be waiting until later this year to play some of the games you've mentioned and I'll probably get CoD for the xbox because my kids will be on that more then their PS4.

Not really looked too closely at the games you've mentioned, currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn.

Agreed completely. I haven't played a Call of Duty game since the first Modern Warfare and you're especially right about the Battlefield and Assassins Creed franchises.

The new Dishonored was an incredible experience, every bit as good as the first, as was Deus Ex.

Have you checked out Rainbow Six Siege? Apart from the odd segue in to Dishonored/Deus Ex/a couple of other releases, I've barely touched another game in the past 18 months. The multiplayer is superb.

Should be a bit of a price drop on the Xbox One with ''Project Scorpio'' being released in the Autumn.

Oooo Scorpio looks interesting, I might have to add more funds to the piggy bank so I can hopefully cover the cost of buying two of them.

That is one of the games I'm looking forward to also looking forward to seeing if Days Of War can successfully make the crossover from steam to PS4 which is where Verdun was badly let down so won't be holding my breath. The new Call of Duty WW2 does look very good and goes back to the genres roots of the first Medal of Honor on PS1 which is one of my all time favorites.

Rainbow definitely, if you're in to your online shooters.

There's a lot of getting used to the Operators and getting to know the maps before you can really be effective and properly enjoy it, but once you're there it's an absolute riot.

I second this, it's bloody fantastic.
Me and my mates got it when it first came out, still play it now, more than any other game. It managed to fight off the new COD and Battlefield for us when they came out, we were soon back on Siege. It just has a unique tactical element that separates it from every shooter I've ever played.

The best bit is, they got far more sales than anticipated and could well of released "Siege 2" based on that to make more money but choose to stick to the plan of 2 years worth of free DLC maps and operators and make their money through premium purchasable weapon skins and things that don't affect gameplay in any other way but cosmetic, rather than any pay to win mentality.

Iv been playing Black Ops 2 on the Xbox One recently as they've finally released it for backwards compatibility. The servers are so bad.

That was the last of the good ones for me.

My kids used to hate playing against me on there.

Call of Duty started going downhill rapidly after Modern Warfare 2.
Even though Red Dead Redemption 2 is due out this year, I'd expect it to be pushed back, as Rockstar always do.

COD was ruined with the addition of jetpacks. Can't wait to go back to the normal boots on the ground gameplay. Infinity Wards last 3 Cod have been Awful especially Ghosts and Infinite Warfare. Hopefully, Sledgehammer learn from the mistakes from Advanced Warfare because at the moment it feels like Treyarch are the only developers who can make an enjoyable game.

COD is the only game I play on PS3 then PS4.

Sidney - I recall us playing the original MW1 multiplayer in 2009 as you had a moniker 'Premier League Clarets'!

As stated the recent 'jet pack' games are useless, I'm currently hammering the remastered MW1, old school gaming for claymore loving campers like me!

Didn't know about the new WW2 game, about time.

Have you ever watched a camper on Youtube called 'BlackWorm' ? Hilarious. He hides with his shotgun behind a headglitch created by planting his riot shield in the ground.

I'll watch that now KRBFC. I love camping, it's an art form, I've received at least 50,000 insulting messages over the years!

I've not played a CoD game for years. I just wasn't interested in the whole futuristic direction the franchise took. I much prefer Battlefield which I find to be better paced and I prefer the teamwork element (when people play it right!).

However a WWII CoD intrigues me. I've read that there will be solo and co-op campaigns each with a different story. The multiplayer will have a social hub like Destiny so I'm interested to see how that turns out.

I'm a bit concerned that they're (I think) using the same engine again. I'd like to see them push the visuals - they have the money for it!

He uses scavenger perk to resupply claymores and trophy systems and ends up with guardian kill streaks and claymores on 1 entrance and a sentry gun out of a window, all while chilling behind his riot shield with a shotgun hahaha

Yes, I also recommend R6. A really excellent, tactical game. Agree that there's a fairly steep learning curve. This wasn't too bad for me as I spent hours and hours watching gameplay on YouTube before buying it. So I already knew the maps and what each operator did. Just needed to learn the controls which obviously wasn't too tricky. One of my most satisfying gaming moments ever was successfully killing all 5 of the enemy players in one round after my team mates had all died.

I enjoy watching gaming on YouTube but not really into the whole e-sports thing. It has always seemed a little cheesy to me though I can see the appeal, particularly for a younger crowd. My version of Sky TV here in Spain has launched an e-sports channel actually so I might give it another chance. Or did you mean playing competitively? I'm definitely not good enough for that, haha.

Yeah, that's what I enjoy about COD. I play and watch as much competitive as I can. I miss the BO2 league play days they have never replicated that system.

Wasn't me, my gamer tag has always been Sidney1st, Sidneyone or a variation of those two, ever since I first started playing World of Warcraft.

I've picked up Rainbow 6 Siege today from Game and I got Star Wars Battlefront on PS4 network really cheap for the entire game inc season pass and addons about £15 I think.

I have though about taking my kids to an e-sports event, they love watching stuff on youtube.
That's how I knew my son was learning about stuff when a video appeared on my youtube account of a scene from GTA involving a hooker in the car
