Pains me to say but ABC

Post by cblantfanclub » Sat Apr 29, 2017 8:15 pm

.... was the only sane voice on the team news thread.

Football is mighty strange sometimes the ugly duckling does the trick.
Not my idea of a good line-up but certainly has SD written all over it.
Hopefully he gets it right and puts the season to bed.

I'm sure normal service will be resumed soon.

What was sane about it?

I haven't read the team line up thread yet.

On the plus side we shouldn't bet multiple threads with the same crap on them fro! Abc

You must have selective reading.

It took 12 seconds to find this:

Don't get too excited. He only said that because everyone else was saying the opposite.

Too be fair, and if we're all honest, ABC can't be the only Clarets fan who looked at the starting line up and thought WTF? I admit I did.

I was surprised but not disappointed to see Arfield in though, this was absolutely the kind of game that SD knows Scotty will give his all, will disrupt their play and might just pop up with a goal or a crucial assist and he had a good game.

Well done to all the team, Barnes and Gray will get deserved plaudits for the goals but Vokesy MOM for me and top marks to SD.

No I thought and actually said SD would bring Arfield back he is a vital part of the framework, I just felt it might be one of those days particularly as Palace were obviously going to vulnerable in defence. You can't really predict these things but today was the day for a surprise, thankfully.

Not often I see eye to eye with ABC, but today I could also see how SD decided to play and it worked really well. SD knew their central defensive pairing was weak and we needed to exploit that; with a narrow setup and 2 target men we had the opportunity to break quick and get balls into the target men and unsettle them, quite simple really - and I mentioned it on the match thread, we Big Fat Sammed a Big Fat Sam team, and there's no shame in that

Sorry for hijacking thread but other one was deleted - just carrying on football talk with abc regarding Tark.

I might be one of very few who think that letting Keane go and bringing in the Mee/Tark partnership next season will be a brilliant move.

I mentioned earlier that Tark is an ideal player to sit behind Hendrick as he likes to push towards the half way line and find a pass to feet quite well - giving Hendrick a chance of going at opposition deeper in their half with the ball under control.

Keane can pick a pass out at times but the 50 yard pingers don't always suit us as a team.

Tark is the key to settle and see what our midfield can truly do .... But not from a midfield position. The way he likes to play further up the field in defence is what will benefit our midfield.

They obviously have deep worries about you bfc, your analysis of Tarka is pretty good although it may worry SD. Think it might take a little time for Tarka and Mee to click but when they do it will provide a better springboard for attack, maybe we won't need that holding midfielder that has obsessed me ever since Alexander made such a good fist of it. I've always liked the idea of being able to quite radically alter the pattern of ones play so as to disrupt ones opponents, under SD we've never employed that method.

I can see where your ideology of that type of player lies but for a team who have the main aim of survival with the squad we have available.. That sort of player is a luxury but if employed correctly can help any team (Kante at Leicester last season...and Chelsea this).

With survival all but guaranteed - I can see a whole new Dyche system coming into play next season with the reqruitments we already have and with what we can now bring in also.

Dyche has done what has had to be done to stay in the league - now I think we will see what he can truly conjure up as he will have more freedom and access to a better calibre of player.

Today we pretty much had a strong Championship squad out (probably not even as strong as some Champ squads on paper) but again Dyche has shown that football isn't played on paper..... It's on the pitch what matters.
