Just watching it with one eye... Some good players and goals scored but will it take off? And will they get booked when taking their shirts off celebrating a goal? I'd personally turn a blind eye if that were to happen,but rules are rules I Spose.

No but that's missing the point. It isn't as good. No point pretending that.

But what would you call somebody who stopped going to watch Burnley if we were relegated to the lower tiers as happened before? Would you say that's perfectly OK just because we were no longer as good?

Of perhaps chidren's football is pointless because they're not as good as adults? Perhaps we shouldn't ever have played football ourselves given that well over 99% never made the grade as professionals?

Women's football has a different dynamic to it. It's great to see women playing the game so well.

I was thinking that myself last night...reason i watched couldnt be arsed reaching for remote.while there are some gifted individuals the majority are poor and make the gifted look world beaters,but fair play to em all enjoying the football instead of being glued to the tv soaps. Furthermore though their punditry etc is as cringeworthy as the blokes.

Women's football is a different sport to men's football - you may as well compare it with hockey or rugby.

I've watched a few games, and it's quite good to be fair. I heard a discussion about it on 5 live where they spoke about how the game is different to the men's game and how the experience of going to watch it is also different.

Oh, and let's not forget that during the wars we only had the women's game to watch - and they had just as many watching them as the Premier League games today do...

It reminds me of when the BBC used to show junior internationals before women started to play. That wasn't very good either but the more people playing sport the better. Trouble is the beeb seems to want to say that women's footy is something it clearly isn't.

I don't enjoy watching women's footy much. I'm not sure why as I like to watch women's rugby and (especially) women's cricket. Looking forward to seeing a couple of the women's T20 cricket league games this year.
I hope the Beeb coverage encourages more women players, more people outside running around a playing field is a good thing.

Some Victorian age drivel - remember when they were talking utter ******** about Sport not being good for Women's health - when women would die if they ran anything over 5000 metres - that women couldn't replace the men who'd gone off to war only to be treated like second class citizens again when the brave boys came home. The thing is if the women's game hadn't been shafted by The FA in the early 1920s it would be far more established and developed than it currently is. PC yeah right more like the establishment realising the shame of what they've done and trying to make amends - a little late for that. The paying punter was happy enough watching the women play during World War I - also raising much needed funds for injured soldiers.

In the States I believe women's soccer is far more popular i.e. has far more participants than the men's game.
