....or just fade into obscurity in the Bananarama league, or whatever it's called, for a few decades?

The latter, yes.
Let there be long drawn-out torture, not a merciful swift ending.

Who cares....won't you all miss the great rivalry the hype surrounding such giants in terms of hatred in football,I love the way Burnley have risen from the depths and risen in the correct manner from a financial point of view. We're a team that's actually won the jackpot! Lots of clubs have been bankrolled along with Blackburn ..Middlesbrough Sunderland Bolton and they've all failed, so who cares .weve done good and won the lottery.with good people I would think running the ship. Teams promoted so far Brighton and Newcastle have been bankrolled also.utcbasil6345789 wrote:Anything downward will do

Not bust because that usually frees people to walk away from their debts and find new funding. Let them stay heavily in debt!

T'would be nice if they sloshed around in L2 for a few years, managing to avoid relegation by the skin of their teeth two or three times.
Before finally going down.
Then again, where they become Stockport County's Big Rivals in the National League North and exist happily ever after, being eternally grateful to for the annual friendly they get off Accy.
Sound ok?

Re: Do You Actually Want Rovers To Go Bust?....
Not bad, Buxton - but personally I'd prefer them in L1 and then L2 each for only one season.
Three straight relegations - now that would be something for Venkys to be remembered for.

Re: Do You Actually Want Rovers To Go Bust?....
no, not for me, no point having local rivalry and there being no local rivals.
Also, whilst I want them relegated, I can settle for them being in the lower divisions. No way would I enjoy seeing any club fold completely.
I'm not a thug, therefore have no interest in war stories on the old terraces, rovers have a long tradition as part of the Lancashire scene, I wouldn't want to deprive their genuine fans of having a team to support. Beating, or bettering them is one thing, seeing them disappear altogether is not my thing at all.

I'd like them to suffer death by a thousand cuts but not quite fold. I want every season to be a struggle, both on and off the pitch from the first kick of pre season to the last kick of the season. Not quite sinking but never improving enough to get out of the sh!t.

If I was a Burnley fan, that'd be my thinking too. Us going bust does nothing for you whatsoever. Blackburn would be superior again by following man u, city, Liverpool etc. And you'd be rivalless backwater prem(for how long?) minnows that nobody cares about, playing crap football..boatshed bill wrote:I hope they survive, in fact more than that: I would love to see us batter them in the EPL.

I used to tell them on Rovers Mad that I wouldn't want them to go to the wall, but a good 10 years spent in the depths of the 4th tier would be just lovely.

We wouldn't be without rivals, Bolton and Preston are still alive and kicking, plus everyone's favourite pie eaters.
Brighton and Boro don't really like us either.

Would love to see them drop down to the lowest level in the pyramid, then all of uncle jacks steel torn down and deadwood turned into a housing estate for all the dregs of society.
Absolute no sympathy for them what so ever. There's plenty of rivals for us.

I never want any team going bust regardless of who they are. Just like us the fans of that club put their hearts into it and I know we would all be lost if we went to the wall. Having said that, I'd love to see them competing with Hartlepool, Cheltenham and Carlisle for the next forty years or so

No, No, No.
Clubs who go bust tend to rise again like a Phoenix from the flames. We want them to struggle and whimper in the lower tiers to the point that they look up to us for pity. We forget, momentarily, the story of the good Samaritan as we walk by ignoring their tears.
We want to relish them suffering on a weekly basis, not forget about them.

I'd prefer them to have a struggle in the lower leagues for a few years. That way these new age fans who have only known Sky's invention of football will understand more about real life.

Relegation from L2 then the Vanarama and on and on until they are playing Clitheroe & Darwen in their local derby before going under, It's what they wanted for us 30 years ago so why should we want anything different for them.

Re: Do You Actually Want Rovers To Go Bust?....
Yes I do and the reason is a pragmatic financial one. I would also like Stanley to go bust as well. We remain in the Premier League and overtime pick up support from those areas around us. Thus, then having a much bigger crowd base. It happened in reverse when we were in the doldrums and Rovers were winning the Prem. For example, my cousin (a Burnley fan living in Oswaldtwistle) told me that as a result of the fact that Rovers were where they were his son along with all his school mates understandably enough, in their formative years, started watching and supporting Rovers.

Yes
Not instantly though, I want them to suffer for a few more years yet, including a further 2-3 more relegations, a cup draw against them with a record win thrown in, then fold and knock the place down.
