Footy film

Post by claptrappers_union » Fri Apr 28, 2017 6:28 pm

Here is a short film about an amateur football team. The only people who have seen it so far are friends connected with the team, so I thought I'd share with people on this forum who like football to see if you guys like it. Give it a watch if you have a spare 8 mins.

"Let me introduce you around, this is the Stagliani Bros. and Jimmy Two Times."

... I couldn't get past the first few seconds of blokes in yr face, so maybe I'm not the target audience.

Funny, because I thought it'll be the sort of film that'll be up your street Pstotto. Maybe if you got past the first minute you might actually get into it.

Just watched it. Not my cup of tea....didnt like the opening minute as it was like let's pretend to be cool for the camera a bit like a team of David Brents. Several other scenes back up this (in my) opinion. Just things like the story of how you got your name....like one of them scenes where no one else finds it funny except yourself.

Commendable you are still all mates though and that you do something like that as regular as you can. I am sure your friends will love it and really that's all that matters and not what I think of it

Great that you have all kept in touch.

I still pay football every week with many of the same lads I have played in teams with since I was at school - so that's 40 years with a few of them !

In terms of the short film I think it's probably one to enjoy for yourselves and your friends and family. It looks like a Home Video - but something good for you to look back at later in life.

I wouldn't book your flights to the Oscars quite yet though !

Is the Rossendale game at the old Rossy Utd ground or somewhere else in the valley?

8..oh I get it now...the OP clearly asks for poster's opinions on the short film but the only VALID WORTHWHILE opinions are from people within the acting profession, who might call themselves say...ACTING CLARET.. :? ..everyone else knows nothing, because they are not from within the ACTING PROFESSION....what did you win your last Oscar for..?

What did you call these 'know nothings?'

Its what was Haslingden FC, was used by Stand and was then abandoned circa 1999 - the shots in the credit sequence are what remains or the ground. Its quite sad really because it was a good facility.

I enjoyed it. Some bits were quite funny. Makes me wish I was still involved in playing with some of the teams I played with down the years had some great times and laughs.

Shame that the Burnley league went down the pan and interest waned.

Just stick to 5 aside these days which is a shame.

Its well edited and shot too. Good use of the old and new footage.

That's a very good film, lovely to see such a bond - intriguing story about Matt, too.

I enjoyed it, made complete sense to me and could have been about any number of teams over the years, built on friendship and a love of football. Also made me think of some pals I'd once see at least weekly, but haven't seen for many years.

A lad I used to work with appeared in this, pretty funny in places if you ever played in a terrible Sunday League side..

I really enjoyed it - although it does make me envious that I haven't kept in touch with my old mates in the same way.

Thanks for the positive comments, we didn't intend to go out and make anything Oscar winning or funny or anything. Its just a nice little film.

We just found a the story interesting about friends having a commmon interest and keeping in touch, and we wanted to reflect on memories and growing older with simple interview.

Hopefully the film will help find the original captain, Matt, and get the team to reconnect with him.
