A woman is facing a year in prison after laughing during a racists confirmation hearing to be US Attorney General.
But the subject of those confirmation hearings literally commits perjury during them and no one bats an eye.

Tut tut, IT.....it's not like you to provide false news, but you just did.
The woman was arrested on two misdemeanors. The first one was due cause to remove her from the session which she had disrupted, including the laugh the article refers to. But she was charged with a second misdemeanor when she basically caused a cafuffle in the process of being ejected from the building - "allegedly parading, demonstrating or picketing within a Capitol."
While the jury took into account the first misdemeanor, including her guffaw, it was on the second charge she was predominantly convicted.
Editors write headlines, not journalists, and you've picked up on one such misleading piece of reporting.

There's a reason I said "after" and not "for".

not one that you could possibly claim facilitates you wiggle room in this particular false reporting. Put your hands up and admit you jumped in without your usual standard of research. It's OK it's a cleansing experience.
