West Brom on the beach?

Post by Bin Ont Turf » Thu May 04, 2017 10:16 am

West Brom haven't won in 5 matches (D1 L4) and haven't scored a goal in those 5 matches.

It's crackers that they're still in 8th place.

It should be a celebratory late one on Saturday. 8-)

Matt Phillips and Robson Kanu both injured. Phillips was the best player at the Hawthorns

Will be a strange game in that both sides don't really like possession but we should be up for it. Pulis has often come under criticism for winding down after getting safe but they still have some very good players.
I'm confident Tarky will do a better job on Rondon but they're still a danger at set pieces, especially when they cheat.

Ram it home clarets.

might be different if we were desperate, bit like when Ipswich came here and needed a win, but we seem to be doing okay.
I definately fancy us to beat them here. I doubt they'll just be sauntering about and not trying, but if we play as we can do, should be three points.

They are in 8th place, just 5 points in front of us though. Top half beckons? Now that would be crackers but so amazing too

I don't think they've won away in 2017.

Is this the occasion where SD has to go off script and not talk up how we punch above our weight? Didn't skysports do an analysis where WBA's squad cost less per point earned so far this season than ours?

Not sure he be clear about that :)

Maybe he could be clear about how West Brom's wage bill is more than double that of ours?

capital vs operating costs though, BoT.

BTW, Pulis teams have only won 6 of 43 PL games after reaching the magical 40 points. Two ways to take that
1. they're on the beach, it's attitudinal from Pulis
2. and more likely IMO, like SD teams, they've run their legs off, where I guess elements of item 1 come into play

either way the stats are in our favor for once

The other explanation is that they are already preparing for next season in terms of conditioning and preparations. We've no idea what they are doing in training but it's clear from results they aren't doing it on match days.
