£8.5 million end of season bonus to be shared amongst players.

The Daily mail reckon the squad share out £8.5million if we finish in 17th spot.

It also points out our bonus structure is better then clubs around us who've got bigger wage bills.

It says Robbie Brady is the top earner. He's done one free kick and that's it. Tom Heaton has earned top, I think. Brady's done nowt yet.

Fantastic. That's exactly how a club like ours should reward its players. I would also like to think they'll get at least half of the £2m we'll earn for every place above 17th - they've earned it and it will help future recruitment.

I think it's been well known for a few years that we offer a heavily bonus based pay and it seems to be working. It's the ideal way to keep base costs low.

Can only agree.
Common sense for a club of our size to offer big incentives rather than big wages. It's not surprising knowing that, that our running stats are higher than anyone else's. Well deserved.

rises dependent on final league position - basically what we all assumed - Interesting that they assume our wage bill will be similar to last time. There have been a few new faces and renewed contracts since then - so I would have thought a bit more - hopefully not too much though

"Burnley to hand stars £8.5m bonus for Premier League survival this season with some players poised to receive five months' salary in one go
Burnley are on the brink of securing Premier League football for next season
Sean Dyche's men are set to receive a huge windfall for staying in top flight
At least £8.5million will be divided among players should they retain status
Those who have played most frequently are in line for about £650,000 each
Burnley's players are set to receive a huge windfall for staying in the Premier League with at least £8.5million being divided among Sean Dyche's team.

In one of the top flight's biggest bonus schemes, those who have played most frequently are in line for about £650,000 each as reward for pulling off survival.

These pay-outs are all the more substantial considering Burnley's modest wage structure, which sees January buy Robbie Brady as top earner on £35,000 per week. Some players are poised to receive five months' salary in one go.

Burnley have one of the lowest annual wage bills in the Premier League — about £33m — as the club's hierarchy are conscious of living within their means if they are relegated to the Championship.
But in turn the players will be rewarded handsomely for securing another season in the top flight, earning a generous slice of the TV money that staying in the Premier League will bring.
In terms agreed before the current season, it is understood that a pot of £8.5m will be shared out in the event of Burnley finishing 17th.
Each place higher up is worth an incremental amount. Burnley sit in 14th position at present, which equates to approximately £9m.
The pool is then divided out among the squad in recognition of contributions made throughout the course of the campaign.

Using a points system, each start is worth more than an appearance off the bench, for example. It is estimated that those players featuring in every match will earn upwards of £650,000 depending on the final finishing position.
Every Premier League club will have drawn up a bonus scheme with players last summer in a bid to incentivise performance, and regulations prohibit those terms being altered now.
Burnley's is particularly generous when considering Leicester's title-winners shared £6.5m last season for finishing above 12th, as revealed by Sportsmail.
Their pot would have been £3.5m for 17th position.
But Burnley have been able to offer a greater figure because weekly wages are kept to a strict structure.

Leicester, Stoke and Watford in the immediate places above, and West Ham, Crystal Palace, Swansea and Sunderland below all have much larger annual salary bills, so Dyche's achievement in keeping Burnley up is especially impressive and the subsequent windfall to players arguably more deserved.
Burnley moved to the brink of survival by beating Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend in their first away win of the season.
They are seven points above the drop zone with three games to go against West Brom, Bournemouth and West Ham.
Southampton in ninth are only two points ahead of Dyche's side, but have played two games fewer.
Beating West Brom at Turf Moor on Saturday would confirm Burnley's Premier League status for next season — and a £95m injection of TV money.

doesnt surprise me, its how we have to run the club and i mentioned it a few seasons ago.

If we stay up £8.5m is nothing, if we go down we aren't giving ourselves a millstone. I'd assume relegation would drop basic salary as well.

Brady, in the games he's played for us, has been our most productive player in terms of creating chances according to the stats.

I'm bemused that anyone can think he's done nowt.

Bonus related rewards are the way to go for all football teams. Yes, the bigger names will still get bigger wage but getting the larger part of rewards for what has been achieved makes sense for all clubs.

This is essentially the "city/trader" bonus model. John B will be very familiar with this. Our club is in safe hands.

Let's hope they can push the payout to £9 million.

Big surprise eh?
Our most recent signing, and record signing has secured a better deal than those who - in many cases joined us when we had a lot less money and financial security.
Isn't it the plan to try to continually improve the quality of the squad, or would you prefer us to stagnate or go backwards?

whatever the final figure is it does seem like the best way of
rewarding the players based on number of starts.
Wish I few more clubs would do the same as it might make it easier for us to
attract some better players.
It means some players will up their weekly average by 10-12k to close to 40k a week
possibly more in some cases.

Can't quite believe 'little old Burnley' are in this position but in essence it's a no brainer
and hopefully keeps the players reasonably motivated.

Five months salary in one go isn't much compared with how City salary / bonuses used to be structured... that was much lower basic salary then multiples of annual basic salary depending on performance - even more if you managed to bring the system down :-)

I wouldn't want to be the Burnley player who gives away a needless penalty and the points leading to relegation in one of the next three games.

If it's based on games played. I feel sorry for Dean Marney. He's contribution has been massive and due to injury , could lose out.

Having said that I'm sure he'll manage to get by on whatever bonus he gets. !

the transfer fee of £25m net puts the marketplace fee at £32.6m (2+ 25 - 2 (original fee paid to utd) /3 x 4) - not bad for a guy with 1 year left on his contract

So a player who's currently on around the £30-35k mark and UTD are going to offer him £120k?

Kyle Walker is on £70k a week and he's a first choice England player.

If Keane goes to Man United for £25m+ he will end up on a very substantial wage. Don't really get the comparison with Walker.

They might. They're not trying to outbid his current contract with Burnley, they're trying to outbid the contract offers from the other high rollers. I hope.

Walker is being courted by City who're rumoured to be offering to double his wages.
That makes sense to me, first choice England fullback, very experienced etc.

UTD offering £120k to a still relatively inexperienced defender is slightly odd, even in this day and age.

Even Lingard is only on £75k plus bonuses.
They also might be a bit wary after giving Luke Shaw silly wages and being bitten by that transfer so far.
