Re: Talksport
wilkins is a fool, and he shot himself in the foot with that arrogant and pointless insult.
for a station that needs callers, berating someone for not having a clue, simply because they werent pros, infers that theres little point in having an opinion.
That *** Ray Houghton also told a caller the same thing once. brillinat ploy, . wilkins is just another in a long line of tosspots on there.
what made it worse was the fawning sychophants ringing in to bolster wilkins already inflated ego.

Re: Talksport
For all of it's limitations I think TalkSport does have it's good points. I listen whenever I'm in the car and even though some parts either annoy me or make me cringe, I also get a laugh out of it as well. I'd recommend listening to their Press Pass slot on a Sunday evening 6-8pm, I think it's hosted by Ray Stubbs and he generally has some worthwhile discussion with a couple of broadsheet journos. I still have no idea how people let Adrian "WUM" Durham get to them though, if you can't see his fishing line coming you must be blind.

Re: Talksport
I cant stand durham. I know hes winding up. I know he believes nothing he says himself. I still cant help fall for it. I rung him up the other day about the athletes records. Luckily i saw sense and calmed down and hung up before he answered.SammyBoy wrote:For all of it's limitations I think TalkSport does have it's good points. Re: Talksport
I heard the Wilkins / Custis spat whilst driving into work. I got the impression Custis as upset Wilkins somewhere previously,. Custis as probably written something derogatory about one of the clubs Wilkins was at (possibly Villa,, Custis as covered the Midlands for the Sun) and Wilkins was going to let Custis have it no matter what they were discussing.
Re: Talksport
Custis might have been the journo who broke the news last year about Wilkins getting caught for drink driving and being an alcoholic ?
Lots of very generic criticism of Talk Sport on here. Whilst obviously there is some dross on their - e.g. Durham and Gough, Jason Cundy etc....there is also some decent stuff. Hawksey and Jacobs on the afternoon has been good for many years. They were both the writers of the old Fantasy Football with Skinner and Baddiel.
They could do with nabbing Jonny Vaughan from Radio X - he's very good on the radio. Does a good football show on a Saturday also.

Re: Talksport
Jonny Vaughan had a stint a few years back, he was bloody good, Durham and Goughie are very, very tired these days and are frequently scraping the barrel for things to talk about.

Re: Talksport
I can vouch for this, on some slow news days recently they've even resorted to churning out stuff like "who'd win? Ali or Tyson?" and asking the listeners to suggest new rules for football, which resulted in some idiot advocating a penalty shoot out after the first 20 minutes if the game was still goallessDiesel wrote:Jonny Vaughan had a stint a few years back, he was bloody good, Durham and Goughie are very, very tired these days and are frequently scraping the barrel for things to talk about.

Re: Talksport
Durham gets on my wick but he is normally complimentary about Burnley and his been to quite a few of our games. Jason Cundy really is a thick cockney .anker.
