and was focussed on swanseas result, It didnt occur to me Hull were the ones self destructing.
I thought the BBC had got the post match stuff with stats totally wrong.
hardly anyone around me saw sams goal from the pen shout ! cant recall being on a game and so many people saying same thing. I asked what happened, and nobody knew .

anyway, what a team, what an achievement. felt a bit damp squib like though to be honest at the final whistle.

I missed it too.....the referee clearly turned down the penalty, waving it away with both arns....then the lino starts flagging, the ref ignores the lino (having just turned out down).. Barnes does brilliantly whilst most of us had switched off.

Motd say brilliant refereeing...boll@cks. as a team the officals were crap and had burnley not scored it would have been a huge embarrassment for them.

I saw it
I was howling for a pen and noted the Linesman flagged but also watched as Ash cross for Vokesy to sweep home. He nearly had a similar goal in the 1st half when it came in near post from the left but Foster saved with his feet.

Exactly the same happened to me in the JHL - much gnashing of teeth and effing and blinding at the ref, who I was watching, - I thought he'd signalled for a WBA free-kick.

In fairness about 15,500 people missed Sam's first goal. I certainly did.

Missed it completely. Jones clearly said no pen, lino clearly said definitely a pen, and i was too busy watching Jones make absolutely no decision at all until to his relief Vokes bailed him out of a spot.

One thing i'll say for Jones is that his willingness to let play develop on an advantage and then bring it back if there was none was excellent. He did it several times. This just wasn't one of them.

To be fair (but I haven't seen it back)I thought the ref looked ready to give the penalty after the linesman was so sure. If that was the case I've no problem the ref making a mistake and correcting it because it's a tough job.

Exactly how I saw it. I was certain at the time the ref was going to correct his mistake and give the penalty. To the point where I wasnt even watching the play that followed. Just seen it back and Barnes did so well.

Fair enough then, I saw him wave it away then looked back at play just in time to see Vokes put it in the back of the net. Didn't have a clue how the ball had got to him though!! My mate sat next to me missed it going in!

Haha, it would be interesting to see the percentage of fans inside the ground who actually did see it. Judging by the comments on here it wouldn't be too high!!

Suspect you're spot on with that. I'd say from those sat around me that a minority saw the goal.

I saw it.

I jumped up to berate the ref and then just saw sam put the ball in the net - completely missed how the ball got to sam though. Could see barnes and put the 2 together.

Was a crazy few seconds to be fair with about 2 of us around me who saw it.

Always keep yer eye on the ball.... Two lovely goals.though there was a lot of confusion with Barnes getting up so quick maybe..advantage being played.

The reff initially said no pen but after clocking his linesman he put his whistle to his lips but saw Barnes cross the ball and then obviously vokes scoring.

Good advantage that ironically we probably wouldn't of had if he initially thought it was a penalty

Really good point on Goals on Sunday just now. Most other players other than Barnes would have stayed in the floor claiming a pen rather than reacting is such a way.
