You miss the point..
You miss the point..
Even if you are right that our success was 'false' and 'bought', would I change seasons 1991 to 2010? Not a prayer!

Why? What happened between 1991 and 2010? Is that when your family still liked you?Saxoman wrote:Even if you are right that our success was 'false' and 'bought', would I change seasons 1991 to 2010? Not a prayer!

This is just the start. You cannot sustain such debts with vastly reduced income.

Would man city and Chelsea give up their cups and just forget it in favour of 'doing it fairly'? Haha such nonsense..
Re: You miss the point..
I've checked that list of league 1 clubs, MK - there's one missing!

It's not that long ago I thought id never see us beat blackburn in my lifetime, now we are two divisions higher, have gazillions more cash than them, are run superbly both on and off the pitch, have a wonderful new training facility and have another season at least of premier league football to look forward too.. oh to be a claret!!

Saxo, tbh, it's you that are missing the point. You are now a League 1, 3rd tier team so, please, f*ck off and bother someone else on your own level.

Re: You miss the point..
Still losing a million quid a week and I'm guessing will continue to do so until July when they can start to offload the dross that they have on massive wages if any clubs will take them.
In for a big shock this summer methinks.

Re: You miss the point..
All clubs have their ups and downs and can dwell on past glory. At the moment Rovers are a third tier club with the prospect of sinking even further down the football league. Burnley are a Premier League Club both on and off the field. The Venkys should take note and learn from Burnley's success on how to manage a football club but it is doubtful if they will. At least they are now aware that relegation is possible from both the Premier League AND the Championship !! Their ambition to make money out of buying a Premier League Club will have to wait for a very long time. Let's hope they still have that ambition and continue to hang around !!

Re: You miss the point..
It's 3 title, and ALL OF THEM bought for them. Lawrence Cotton was the Jack Walker of his day, and broke the British transfer record twice, just like Walker, to procure the best footballers. They have a history of buying success....which is then followed by years of trouble.Pstotto wrote:20C Burnley2 League titles, Rovers 2 League titles, one of them bought for them.
History repeating itself.

Re: You miss the point..
They still talk about the title in '95 like it was last week. It's 22 years ago. The previous century, long gone.
It took 25 years for us to go from English champions to the fourth division. They're on target to repeat the feat, maybe slightly ahead of schedule.

Re: You miss the point..
That's all they have now, the past whereas we can live in the present and look forward to the future.
However some of our fans need to adjust to the new reality, stop hating Rovers so much and start loving Burnley more. It cannot have been more than five minutes after we scored on Saturday when the CFS started singing the Who's that dieing on the carpet ditty.

Re: You miss the point..
They'd be losing a lot more than £1 million a week if the Venky's hadn't reduced costs significantly over the past few years. Obviously the Rovers fans will never admit to that but it's the truth. Wages have been halved since the PL and their operating loss is significantly lower than it's been in the past. However, not even they can run the club on League One income. I genuinely believe administration will happen over the coming 12 months... along with a 10 point penalty and possibly even League Two!tybfc wrote:Still losing a million quid a week and I'm guessing will continue to do so until July when they can start to offload the dross that they have on massive wages if any clubs will take them.

Re: You miss the point..
A club can be run on a league 1 income, it's just going to require a scythe to go through their finances and chop all the deadwood out.
