Basil and the Soul Nights, Coach and Horses..

Post by hampsteadclaret » Sun May 07, 2017 10:52 am

Basil often mentions the Soul Nights on here that he puts on at the Coach, Church St, Burnley.. yesterday, post match, celebrating our vital point, after a couple of drinks in the Miners we went to the Coach and Horses for the rest of the evening. What a fab night we had..the music was excellent..loads of Motown, disco, Northern,..some Philly soul - there was a good crowd in there as well, friendly and up for a good night. Basil played all our requests, and the beer was good as well...highly recommended, we will be going back.. :)

I was there later, good beer, excellent company and a great cross-section of tunes. Yes, and I got some requests played too

Sounds good, pardon the pun. Hope Basil is still doing the Northern Soul nights next season. I will stop over on a Saturday when Burnley match coincides with Soul night and travel back to Midlands on the Sunday. KTF.

Thanks for the kind words, folks - glad you enjoyed it and twas nice meeting you. We used to do the gig at The Cattlemarket, then moved to 't Coach along with Pam and there are many groups of people who turn up but not always together (if they did, they wouldn't all fit-in); usually enough for a good night, which is very pleasing, considering the town centre ain't wot it used to be. The night has been going for well over ten years and It'll carry on as long as people turn up. There are some people who travel to Burnley on match days and stay over when we're on, so hopefully we'll still be there next season.
UTC - what a shame about The Horse Fiddlers, eh?
