Loaning players to the Stewards
Loaning players to the Stewards
Something I just thought about.
I imagine the situation, both financially and their new league standing means our friends down the road will be looking to utilise the loan market, and borrow development players from premier league teams.
Bolton took Chris Long on loan knowing he could do a job and we would be keen to get him game time for example.
The set up they have there means it would be a no brainer to let our development players go and get some first time action there but I don't know how I'd feel if a claret scored 25 goals for them and helped them got promoted.
It's all hypothetical I suppose, but it would be a bitter pill for their fans to swallow. And a conflict of loyalties possibly for ours

And suppose they were one win away from avoiding the drop into Div.2 and one of our
loanees scored the goal that kept them up?
It doesn't bear thinking about.

If it wasn't for the ridiculous rivalry this would be a great opportunity for us to lend them some of our dev squad.

You're better off doing a bit of embroidery then.
Or a knitting circle.

The reality is the club will do whatever is in the best interests of the club and appeasing fans isn't really a factor.
Turning it around, who have they got that could be useful to us?

Re: Loaning players to the Stewards
I would think the set up down there is the reason not to send a player.
The club is toxic. Won't be long until players start having payments missed. Dressing room will be in disarray. No guarantee that a decent manager will be there

MDWat is a closet Bradford City Fan. He thinks it'd be worthwhile loaning the players to the Bantams, should they get promoted. I tend to agree.

Add to that the possible reaction they'll get from the few fans left should they not play well and it's probably not a good idea.Inchy wrote:I would think the set up down there is the reason not to sent a player.

If we have players of league one standard, there's 23 other clubs to loan them to.

Yes, I got that. My comment wasn't intended to oppose what you said. I for one find the whole Burnley hates Blackburn thing so over the top.Damo wrote:That was a fair part of my point

Re: Loaning players to the Stewards
Our club should do what's best for our football club. If that includes loaning players to Blackburn then that's fine with me, if it doesn't, that's equally fine.

Re: Loaning players to the Stewards
It strikes me that if Blackburn Rovers was a stable Lg1 club, with decent coaching staff, the proximity would be an advantage for the loaning out of players.ClaretTony wrote:Our club should do what's best for our football club. Big if though, regarding stability

Re: Loaning players to the Stewards
The reality is if we loan players out to league one sides unless U21 they won't be good enough for the premier league anyway.

I suppose that would depend on their age.Quickenthetempo wrote:The reality is if we loan players out to league one sides unless U21 they won't be good enough for the premier league anyway.
We shall soon see how O'Neill has progressed at Oldham
