New contract for Keane
New contract for Keane
It's clear that Tarkowski and Long aren't good enough to keep us in the PL next season. It's down to Mee and Keane at the heart of the defence. It's worth more than the £30 million we might get for Keane, to keep us in the PL next season. Our defeat at Bournemouth has just cost the clarets several million pounds, regarding final league position, which was money they could have offered to Keane via a new contract. If he was fit enough to play, then it's been a false economy. I think a new contract offer for Keane is top of our list of priorities this summer.

Bit difficult when he has probably already signed one for another club

Tarkowski and Long won't be the first choice centre half pairing next season.
We will sign players in the summer.

Dyches tactics cost us millions also.

Re: New contract for Keane
First of all, I don't think it's fair to judge two player from two performances. It isn't just the fact that they haven't played much together this season, it's also that they haven't played that much football in general. However, based on Long's experience, I think we all know that he's not a Premier League starter. Tarkowski may prove to be that but he'll need to cut out the errors if he wants that to be the case.
Keane won't sign another contract next season. We've no doubt tried everything we realistically can but our offers still won't stretch to anything near what the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and United can offer. Plus, it may not be just about the money. He'll have his own ambitions of trophies and cementing his placed in the England side.
Best case scenario is signing a new starting centre back to partner Mee or Tarkowski with Long as 4th choice.

Re: New contract for Keane
By the looks of it Keane doesnt seem to even want to play out the season with us in case it ruins his chance for a big move. Either that or Burnley are robbing the fans who spend their hard earned cash goint to watch us play by refusing to play him and risk an injury

Offer Keane a new contract... I like it. Wonder why the club haven't thought of that?Pstotto wrote:It's clear that Tarkowski and Long aren't good enough to keep us in the PL next season. Joey it's pretty obvious Keane is off, don't pretend you believe otherwise just for the sake of disparity.
Same with Ings, same with Austin etc.

Re: New contract for Keane
Dyche signed Keane for peanuts in todays market. Made the club a fat profit and can't hold him back if he's ambitious.
Now SD has to repeat the trick. That's what he's paid for?

How the hell do you work that out????
We've had two promotions under him and, will next year embark on a third season in the Prem!!!
Just remind me how many millions has/will this bring in?
Sometimes people's expectations just run away to daft places.
Get a grip!

i'd like to see Tarkowski and Mee play together before making any judgement on next season's best defensive pairing.

Players can sign pre-contract agreements. Its obvious the club are wrapping him in cotton wool.joey13 wrote:How do you know that ? And have you reported it because it's not allowed ?
He might make a short cameo against West Ham, but I doubt he'll be seen in a Burnley shirt again.

Re: New contract for Keane
I seem to remember board experts proclaiming Sam Vokes not good enough, nor Danny Ings, nor George Boyd, or Scott Arfield. How can anyone make a judgement on Tarks or Long after two Premier League starts?? It beggars belief.

Re: New contract for Keane
Michael Keane is contracted to Burnley for one more season.
No pre-contracts that's breaking a contract and has consequences.
If Burnley say he doesn't go, he doesn't go.
I would hope he's man enough to accept and get on with it but if SD says I can use the money....thank you and goodbye, MK.

Not when he still has 12 months to run on his existing contract

Re: New contract for Keane
Unless they have changed the rules, we'll be allowed to sign another centre half - possibly more than one. You aren't the only person on this board to assume that the club won't be able to sign any new players this summer, but I don't know where that's come from - I think there will be a fair bit of transfer budget.Pstotto wrote:It's clear that Tarkowski and Long aren't good enough to keep us in the PL next season. But as for signing Keane to a new contract, we need to offer him better than what he will be offered by any of his suitors. Not just more money, but also better playing conditions - for example, if his new club offer Champions League football, we need to offer him something better. I'm not sure what that would be.
