Will the Board get it right this summer?

Post by ablueclaret » Sun May 14, 2017 9:50 am

Generally speaking the Board have done well over the past two years apart from their forays into the European market, but this summer takes their thinking to a new level.
There has been an air of permanence about the club over the past 24 months but things appear to be going to change, players are going to move on and even possible the manager.

Next seasons success is largely built on the players already established at the club as we have seen again this season, players coming in often take time to settle, and to some extent the club has been wise in covering positions likely to need filling, but there are likely to be much bigger gaps to fill next season and the side sent out for our first match a very different one from the ones we have seen.
For me signing good up and coming young players has to be the way forward, and some already mentioned fit the bill.
Keeping the development squad well stocked has to be maintained, because if we do fall on harder times having a supply of young players will be important.
The big no-no is to over stretch our resources by raising the wage ceiling too high, better to keep within that particular framework and buy players with something to prove than buy some big-time Charlie's with cash as their only incentive.
And maybe a dip in the European market for some young talent might just be part of that.

I have faith that Dyche will get a hefty (for us) budget, and the lions share of the Keane money on top. We spent big last season in the summer and January despite no assurances of being safe, I see us going even higher this summer.

As preposterous as it is, having broken our transfer record repeatedly and signed our first £13m player, I do no think it will be long before Burnley (Burnley!!!) sign a 20m pound player.

Personally I hope not, that for me is the way to problems.
Tiger keen players with something to prove has to be our way, not getting caught up in the mystique of money.

It won't matter to you because you will be nowhere near any Burnley games. What you will do is constantly snipe and belittle. It's what you do. A sad lonely old woman.

Arguably with the way we have structured our deals with players recently, comparatively lower wages but with the prospect of a substantial bonus if we stay up, we're already doing that

Please get involved with ABC's threads as much as possible cos your jilted girlfriend style responses are very amusing to follow and add an extra dimension to his trolling

Marlon and me have history, for a short while he was quite close, but then something happened and he walked into the white fog of Clarets Mad oblivion. Good to see him back as Zen like as Jeremy.

Can't see any troublesome threads, one is congratulating and cautioning the Board, one is about the virtues of Tarka, and the other about the ability of Mee Tarka and Keane, each in their own way positive threads, but people still take them for negativity!

There is nothing offensive in ablue's threads. If people don't like them, turn the page and don't respond or get involved.

It's a forum and people will always disagree, that's the nature of discussions.

Hold on, have you just advocated a foray into the European market for players?

I'm taking a screenshot of that, so when you whine about the club doing it...

It's still advocating it though, I suppose you're just doing your usual scatter gun approach and covering all angles.
That way if the club get it right you can sit their spouting off about how you were right.

That's your normal trick.

I'm neither, unless you can prove otherwise?

You don't know me personally so I suppose you'll need to prove I'm an internet bully.

Actually the last two paragraphs of the OPs posts I agree with. Get players in with something to prove who are not just after a pay cheque. Lower leagues and Europe where possible but always a risk with the latter as we have seen. I'd like to see us improve Eutopean and further afield scouting networks.

Could you highlight the parts that would suggest I'm bullying someone?

I personally don't like bullies, having been on the receiving end as a kid at school, so if I'm coming across as bullying someone I'd like to make an effort not too.

Sidney has taken on the mantle of Lotty, the defender of all things Claret, and like Lotty he's not that hot on original thinking himself but does like a good argument. He's just part of the Claret woodwork, through time you get used to being savaged by a Bedkington Terrier!.

Progress doesn't have to be reflected exponentially. The Board have been getting it right since Summer 1998.

Yes I'm sure they will get it right and I agree with Jedi, a £15-£20 million player won't be far away.

Defend everything?
Nope.

I think Defour should've been used more.
I think Dyche should've been more pro active with his subs this season.
If we'd gone down again then I would've considered it was possibly time to replace Dyche.
I don't agree with playing Brady on the wrong flank.

There's other things I didn't agree with this season however I don't feel the need to create half a dozen threads after a loss like you do.
Nor do I stamp my feet whining like certain other posters.

I've looked at the bigger picture most of the time, something you claim to do but actually don't.

Given that we've had 2 promotions to the Prem and we're staying there for another season. There's a fair amount of "all things claret" to defend.

Keep smiling.
