Grosicki

Post by Marlonspants » Sun May 14, 2017 12:45 pm

I think we have missed out on a player who could have offered us something.

Looks pretty useful every time I've seen him on the telly.

Maybe we could put in a cheeky bid if he has a relegation release clause?

You'd assume Hull Tigers have paid his gambling debts by now. ;-)

Really? Seems to be all style and no substance from what I'm watching.

He looks a really good player and he does have substance, he's provided a number of assists for Hull in the short time he's been there.

I wouldn't imagine we'd be back in for him though given what was said in September, but you never know.

Mike Garlick's comments from the time:

"Sean, Dave Baldwin and I decided not to sign a winger from Poland right at the death, due to circumstances that we felt could have been potentially detrimental to the overall team spirit of our playing squad."

I guess it's really down to what the circumstances were and whether those have changed.

He's looked okay so far, still think we can get better. If the early links for Ziyech were credible last year I'd be hoping we can get someone of that mould. He's gone on to have a very good season.

nothing more there than what we already have with Brady. Trick is knowing how to utilize the player. Grosicki would be a fish out of water in our framework

Haven't really rated him so far at Hull - not as good as his promoting videos suggested! We have better in JBG and Brady.
If we could get Tom Cairney to provide some creativity in midfield, combined with hard work then that would be money well spent.

Mike Garlick and Sean Dyche should sit down with any prospective new signings and ask the following:

Are you a chain smoker?
Do you gamble?
Are you active on social media?

If the answer is no to all of the above then proceed with interview.

Probably rules out a whole host of potential signings but cuts down the risk.

Another gamble he took and lost again, when he signed for Hull.

From what I've seen he's looked good for Hull. To get 5 assists in your first 8 games for a new team is no mean feat, wathcing or listening to a Hull game he's clearly a good creative outlet, one of their best.

Like Robertson though I fear too much attention has gone his way now for us to land him, either staying at Hull or go to a higher payer than us.
That said he showed a clear desire to join us (and the Premier League) in the summer, maybe if there is a relegation clause and the price ins't too steep he'd want to join us.

I think it bodes well for our recruitment going forward though, say Roberson and Grosicki go elsewhere its a good sign we were seriously targeting them before anyone else (at least publicly).

He's got more assists in 5 games than both our wingers have managed in total, in a full season

And yet we are staying up and Hull are going down.

Not for me. Peter Barlow can run rings round him.
