I saw him in a 3.2 win for them against Villa. He played some superb passes but, because he way above the rest of the team in speed of thought and ability, there was nobody on the end of them. The Rovers supporters were going mad at him. They obviously had the same brain speed as the team!

Although he wasn't known to be involved in the club at the time, Jack Walker paid for Ardiles as he did Steve Archibald in the late 1980s. It wasn't until 1991 when, faced with relegation and known to have no money, that we all saw something wrong was happening when they made three relatively big signings to help them avoid relegation.
