It's not so much a geography issue, more a "I don't care where you live but I know it's not near here" issue.

Anyway, what has it got to do with you? It's your future based on geography that's I'm talking about. Which to your mind is entirely a matter for other people to decide.

How can anyone possibly say that the folk in Zimbabwe are better off than when there was white minority rule? (apart from some high up members of ZANU) It is probably a fair point that Africa may be worse off given that S.Rhodesia was the bread basket of Africa compared with now when it is one of the basket cases of Africa.
Finally given that the majority of citizens of Gibraltar are "Spanish" by decent and speak their language in preference to English-when asked- they do not want to be swallowed into Spain

People from the UK have died to keep the Falklands British and it costs us a lot of money (something like £75 million) to maintain the garrison there.

I know people died out there, my dad was one of the soldiers who didn't get the chance to go out there.

All it requires in both cases is political will, both situations are quite frankly absurd leftovers of a Colonial Past. The world deserves better.

By all means grant Falklands and Gib independence from UK if that's what their population wants (at present they don't want that). (Same for Scotland). But, that's not the same as saying "off you go, you are now Argentinian/Spanish" - whether you like it or not.

Just imagine Australia owning the Isle of Man, every red bloodied Englishman would be pitching for a fight. The Falkands are an absurdity.

What's England got to do with the Isle of Man? As the people who live there. They do not pay UK taxes.

Rather than Australia, what if it was France or Netherlands, still only an issue between the population of IoM and the country they are "part of."
