Oh, come on AJB. JC has been speaking for a long time about what he will do to the people earning over £80,000. It would have been a little more honest if, now and again, he'd mentioned that he was also one of those people.

I've no problem with how much JC earns - and no problem how he spends his money.

Maybe JC is a little embarrassed to admit his earnings because it suggests that earning over £80k does not (necessarily) make someone a "wealth expropriator" and someone earning more that £80k might also be a "wealth creator."

It's quite astonishing that such an innocuous thread title can bring out so much hostility in people. My initial interest was simply one of intrigue at Corbyn's response to the question as to whether he was a wealthy man. As recorded, his response was somewhat puzzling as he said he didn't consider himself to be a rich man 'because of where he puts it'.

This simple phrase conjures up an array of alternatives. Does he have a gambling addiction? Does he move quantities of money to his offspring to avoid inheritance tax? Was he taken to the cleaners by previous wives making him pay exorbitant alimony? Perhaps Diane Abbott is the Imelda Marcos of Hackney and has a lavish taste in footwear. Maybe he is being blackmailed, or perhaps he pays into a hedge fund. He surely can't be stupid enough to just deposit in a bank with virtual zero interest rates. But then..........who knows?

The "politics of envy" idea is bullshit created to end debate. It's bullshit when Tories use it and it's bullshit when anyone else uses it too. That's why I thought you might be being sarcastic.
