Tonight's football.

Post by Sidney1st » Tue May 16, 2017 7:46 pm

Arsenal vs Sunderland.

City vs WBA.

An Arsenal win would be good for me, just so I can laugh at the Gooner in my office who wants Wenger out.

A City loss would be good so I can laugh at my son, especially as Pep said he would've been fired at a bigger club based on this season.

The Emirates looks half empty.

I'm not sure how you can laugh and mock Arsenal fans for wanting Wenger out and acting like they were wrong all along because they have beaten Sunderland at home.

I'm not acting like they were wrong all along am I?

What I'm hoping for is Arsenal to finish in the top 4 AND Wenger to sign a new deal, just for the laughs I'll get out of it, I know quite a few Gooners.

This will be the toughest year Arsenal and Wenger have had for years to keep their top 4 spot, although looking at the fixtures it doesn't look good for them to keep it unfortunately.
Wenger's had a rough time from the Arsenal fans for a while now and I think its a bit harsh.

I think its harsh, I like Wenger but the Arsenal fans are well within their rights to voice their opinion. You said you would mock your colleagues for wanting Wenger out if they beat Sunderland.

Agree. I don't mind wenger compared to some of the other top managers he's been about for abit. I think there will get there wish soon I can't see them doing top four there are reliant on Liverpool slipping up. I think the next appointment there get won't be as good as wenger with the money he's had to spend.

I agree, it would appear Arsenal fans aren't paying attention to what happened at UTD.

1 win at home to Sunderland doesn't make up for 15 years without a league title to some fans though. Most people with a brain aren't fickle enough to believe it does make up for it.

So you won't have banter or mock one of your workmates over their team but you'll gladly write that last sentence about fellow Burnley fans who have a different opinion to you about something?

Wow

Most people with a brain can see that Wenger did well to keep them in the top 4 consistently since he arrived.
He's done well to keep them in the top 4 when they were paying for their stadium.

He's then had to keep them competitive against clubs who're more heavily backed, like City, UTD & Chelsea.

Yes the fans want more than 4th place and the occasional cup, BUT we all know football has cycles and right now Arsenal are just in a minor dip.

Would a new manager guarantee 4th place or higher every single season?
No idea, no one has any clue either.

Plus the person who follows Wenger in is going to need to be something special or they could end up like UTD, hundreds of millions spent and outside the top 4, still.

There's a big overhaul needed at that club. Far too many mediocre players. He may not have had the money too spend like City/Chelsea but he hasn't used what he's had wisely. I'd expect Sanchez to leave.

Anyone who watched Arsenal v Sunderland or Man City v WBA over Reading v Fulham is a bit weird IMO.

Wow you sound like me defending Wenger. I'll quote my above post "I think its harsh, I like Wenger"
