On the face of it he's done a decent enough job, but from what I've read I don't think there'll be too many upset at this news.

I'm upset. I'd pencilled them in as one of the three that would be finishing below us next season.

As Ian Rush once said (allegedly), "The trouble with these Italians is they're all foreigners and dont speak a word of English" :D

Not surprised, you could tell it was on the cards having watched multiple Deeney interviews.

Confirmed now by Watford

“After the Board discussed with Walter Mazzarri the club’s future goals and aspirations, it was decided he will be stepping down from his position as the club’s Head Coach after the final game of the 2016/17 season.

“We thank Walter and his staff for the contribution they have made to Watford Football Club over the past year.”

Weren't you one of those that advocated a change of managers annually like Watford do?
I'm sure you didn't see an issue with it.

Since the Pozzos came in, how many times have they been relegated?

They haven't, so yes it works for Watford.

Are you suggesting we do the same here?

Depends if the owners get the managerial selection right, as Watford have with 3 managers on the trot in Jokanovic (promotion), Quique Flores (FA Cup Semi and comfortable mid-table) and Mazzari (very comfortable mid-table all season).

That's the risk though, do we stick with a man who's done a commendable job of steadying the ship and moving it forward or keep changing manager in the hope we can take much larger steps forward.

Yes it works at Chelsea, but they can afford to pay off managers contracts easily, can we?
Didn't work for Rovers.

Stranger things happen Tony, I bet he still lives in the house he managed Watford from he must love it there, I hope not but it could become worrying if they approach him.

So has every club, but neither format is better then the other is it?

Fergie spent 26 yrs at UTD and won 38 trophies, BUT he had an iffy patch at the start and ultimately his longevity was the key to their success.

Big, big difference in the two jobs though - he's manager at Burnley but at Watford they have a coach who doesn't appear to have much say in which players come in. He's also got a secure job at Burnley whereas he'd be looking for another job in 2018 in all likeliness if he took that job. This is the club who almost immediately sacked the bloke who won them promotion.

No agenda over here, you're the one who's asked for Dyche to be sacked this season, not me.

If you haven't suggested we should do the same as Watford, or advocated what they do then I'll apologise.

I know someone on here has and you're the prime candidate that's all, you do have the biggest mouth on here when it comes to wanting Dyche gone.

You seem to apologise to me quite often, how about use your brain and stop putting words into my mouth before quoting my posts in future. I don't like Dyche's style of football, what's your problem?

Sean Dyche is 16/1 with Paddy Power and three others. 20/1 with a couple of others. Ranieri now seems to be favourite over Silva.

Good I find it really annoying how he can't speak a word of English on his interviews! I mean it's gone mad how the hell can you be giving instructions to the team constantly through a interpreter. The fecker will even use one to say goodbye etc a joke! Regarding our situation with one are two decent signings I think we will be ok again next year.

Yes, like the Wenger topic where I agreed yet you still tried to argue. You have some issue recently where you constantly try to argue for the sake of it, even making up things I supposedly said on numerous occasions to use as ammunition. If you want to debate topics with me then keep it relevant and sensible. I give my opinion on all matters BFC, I know little about politics so I can't add to those topics. If you find my opinion negative regarding certain matters then that's probably because I find the matter negative. I was critical of the recruitment in Dyche's first PL season and praised the board for really showing intent In the summer. Contrasting opinions on the same topic at two different times. One I find worthy of negative comments and the other I believe should be praised.

I do wonder if some of these foreigners actually try and learn English. I remember Pochettino having a interpreter for what seemed like a long time. I remember there were rumors about the reason behind him having a translator but I'm struggling to remember the exact rumor.

I think it was Tevez who was in England for 5 years or so and his English was virtually non existent and he was driving illegally too because he failed to switch his licence over.

As part of him taking the job at Spurs Pochettino agreed to do interviews in English I think.

I can't remember the reason why he used a translator either.

When they played on the Turf earlier this season they had players from eleven different countries starting the game so not speaking English was probably only a problem for Troy Deeney.

I remember something about Pochettino not wanting to do interviews in English until he could speak it to a high standard, because he didn't want to be mocked like other foreign managers? Something like that anyway.

It's a real gamble changing every season. One bad appointment and it can all go wrong. Very nearly happened to Swansea until they put Bradley out of his misery.

Mazzarri moved to Manchester before he even got the Watford job in order to start the process of learning the language, and speaks to his players in English.

“I know Manchester very well – I used to walk around the city a lot,” he said in an interview in February. “When I go back, I can’t really call it my home… but almost. For three or four months last year, before I came to Watford, I travelled back and forth between Italy and the UK. I stayed in Manchester and I enjoyed it very much – it gave me an understanding of life in Britain because, from a personal perspective, I wanted to understand the culture. I chose Manchester because it is not as cosmopolitan as London, which helped me to settle in the environment of life in England faster.”

Given how the media seize on anything you can't really blame him for using a translator.

If he learnt in English in Manchester it's probably a good thing he had a translator.

Yes they got it right, just like our board has got the appointment of Dyche right. How can anyone deny that? I never said we didn't get it right. Don't confuse yourself, I hate the brand of football, its that simple.

For 'translator' read 'PR person'. It's a great way for someone to filter his comments before they reach the journalists. It's a well-known tactic in the communications industry. Poch could speak English right from the start but they didn't trust him to say the right thing for at least a year.
