Is there anything to beat a good penalty shoot-out?

Be good if Huddersfield go up as you'd think they won't have the resources to strengthen that much.

What a brilliant celebration from the Terriers goalkeeper.
Brian Jensen wouldn't have been able to out run everyone.

Re: Owls v Terriers
Did Rhodes chicken out (pardon the pun
) or did I miss his pen?

he wasn't one of the five for some reason, i'd be fuming if my star striker didn't fancy a pen

I can't help thinking that that's no way to settle a season long slog to get that far.

I don't think it's the first time Rhodes has not taken a penalty in the first five either.

Aaron Mooy had a very good game.
Re: Owls v Terriers
Huddersfield definitely deserved it over the 2 legs but a penalty shoot out is a brutal way to end a season.
What's the alternative though?

There's a reason he's not a regular starter and always lost his place in sides with the exception of us for some strange reason.ClaretTony wrote:Regular starter with us. Maybe Sheff Wed wouldn't be relying on the play offs if he'd played more often.

Re: Owls v Terriers
shoot outs are dramatic, but stupid and unfair. 90 mins of football is the only way. replay until a true winner emerges.
cannot believe so many competitions have been resolved this wayover the years, ridiculous.

Probably clutching at straws but didn't Huddersfield have a number of German players taking penalties there.

Can't argue with it being Huddersfield and Reading for the prem from our point of view.
Both going to really struggle if they go up as they just haven't got the squads.

I don't know how many of their penalty takers were German but the commentator certainly picked up on one when he scored.Papabendi wrote:Probably clutching at straws but didn't Huddersfield have a number of German players taking penalties there.

Certainly want the winner from this game to go up. Better a northern team than a southern one

Re: Owls v Terriers
Reminiscent of Burnley's winning penalty shoot out. Looked like Hudds had fluffed it with the 5th penalty to win it (like Wade Elliot) before their goalkeeper made the reprieve.
All in front of the home fans too.
I only heard the match on 5live but it sounded like Hudds deserved it.
Hope they beat reading and we get our lunchtime session at the magic rock brewey back.

It's possible in The Football League - We played winning exciting football in winning the Old Fourth Division you remember.KRBFC wrote:Its simply not possible to play good football without having world class players, well so I'm told on here.
To do it you need to be good without the ball as well - we have the one but not the other.
I think Swansea prove what you're saying not as well as a couple of season's ago but a beautiful side to watch in their prime.
There is still place for going direct but it tends to work best when you switch from neat passing to a sudden quick incisive attack.
