Theresa May on top form today...
Theresa May was on top form at the launch of the conservative party manifesto today.
Answered all questions from the press with confidence and clarity.
Prepare yourself for a shock on June 9th when Burnley elects it's first conservative MP for decades.

Re: Theresa May on top form today...
Press conferences are to a very large degree stage managed which is why Sky News now find it very difficult to get interviews with Conservative ministers for asking the wrong type of questions.
No surprise that Theresa May is dodging live TV debates where the "wrong type of questions" may expose her to closer scrutiny.

There is a reason she's not doing anything that might completely throw her.
I've no idea if she is a good PM, but her communication skills with the masses are **** poor. If they were even remotely better than that, she'd take Corbyn to the cleaners.

What a pathetic topic. Op is clearly a complete muppet to post this on a FOOTBALL message board. Tories will not win in Burnley. Keep your little blue flag flying high tho pal.

Corbyn is exactly the same. All politicians don't like a surprise question. You are on thin ice trying to make political capital out of that.kentonclaret wrote:No surprise that Theresa May is dodging live TV debates where the "wrong type of questions" may expose her to closer scrutiny.

Re: Theresa May on top form today...
Jeremy Corbyn was perfectly willing to take part in Live TV debates providing that all other political leaders agreed to take part including Theresa May.
Theresa May was the only major political leader who refused to take part in live TV debates leading to Jeremy Corbyn also withdrawing.
The sight today of Boris Johnson, Phillip Hammond and other members of the cabinet scurrying out of the manifesto launch having been ordered not to talk to any journalists present was hilarious.

No wonder they didn't want Boris speaking again. But it doesn't matter what he says really because he's got funny hair and makes up funny words which as a nation we all ruddy love.

I think scrapping free lunches for primary school kids and giving them a free breakfast has to be one of the most stupid ideas I have heard so far. Interested in what ant Primary School Teachers think.
Surely that will put about an hour on the school day or take an hour off teaching

Re: Theresa May on top form today...
The clown who is standing in Burnley for the tories won't even come second. I'm a conservative voter but would think twice about voting for him. It's a massive error as for the first time in years they could of taken the burnley seat
Re: Theresa May on top form today...
Scrapping free school meals will cost families £400 a year per child. There's every indication that her government will raise taxes, though she'll wait until she's back in before she drops that bombshell. Considering they've been lowering taxes for the rich for the past seven years, it's fair to assume she'll hit the middle class.
There's never been a clearer choice between front runners than with this election in my memory. The Tories are effectively promising most of us will be poorer, while Labour are offering a stronger economy, an easing of the housing shortage, better funded NHS, and not saddling our children with huge university debts - all paid for by the rich.

Re: Theresa May on top form today...
Many schools already have breakfast clubs for parents who need to drop off early etc and are run by teachers or TA's (TA's get paid the extra 30 mins or hour depending on how long it is on for). Presume they will know free breakfasts will cost a lot less than lunches as not every child will be thre for it. Really bemused on scrapping free lunches unless they are thinking of opening food banks in some schools!mdd2 wrote:I think scrapping free lunches for primary school kids and giving them a free breakfast has to be one of the most stupid ideas I have heard so far. But that's not an argument in favour of voting Labour. If you don't like May's chances in Brexit negotiations, which party should you vote for?Spijed wrote:When it comes to EU negotiations she'll get ripped apart by every other leader Europe as they are far better than she is.

Re: Theresa May on top form today...
Both the Lab and Lib Dem manifestos are good, (possible costing issues with the Lab one, possibly too pro-EU with the Lib Dem one), the Tory one is really strange. They couldn't lose, they just couldn't, but they managed to put something in there that unites the young and the old (even though its not the worst idea in the world).
Could be their first mistake

I back Labour in a lot of things, but they have completely fudged the Brexit question in a desperate attempt not to **** off people who might vote for them.

A lot of Brexiters I have spoken to are getting sick of the media ramming down our throats how bad Labour are, they might be a tad but the Tories are ruthless.
I would rather they handled the brexit negotiations but not run our country.
The vote will be closer than people predict.
Interestingly enough in the debate tonight it mentioned the foreign aid budget of 30m a day. If we stopped that then we could of afforded to stay in Europe, so I would of voted remain.

I think she is an awful orator. I think her communication is awful. A collection of prepared answers and phrases poorly presented and delivered like an amdram actor.

Actually the current setup means EVERYONE gets a free lunch up to year 1 or 2. As they will still provide free school meals to those who need it and make pay the ones who can afford it - how do you have a problem with this?Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Many schools already have breakfast clubs for parents who need to drop off early etc and are run by teachers or TA's (TA's get paid the extra 30 mins or hour depending on how long it is on for). Re: Theresa May on top form today...
After a lot of thought, I have decided to vote Labour. The manifesto launch by the Conservative party has very little substance, and after reading about May's tenure as Home Secretary, I have no confidence in her. The local Labour Rep is very believable and full of energy and hope, despite their poor ratings, whereas the conservative chap who was going door to door last night comes across as a smug prat, who's sole focus is on Brexit and immigration. We all know Brexit will go ahead no matter who is in power, but I don't trust and have no faith in May and her puppeteers.
Re: Theresa May on top form today...
Is the OP a Burnley fan or part of the Tory party machine?
May is one of the worst performing politicians I've ever seen. It's all on- message, written down dialogue that's churned out with the same old slogans. I'd love to see how she does when the autoprompter is switched off.
"Strong and Stable" you teach a parrot to say that.

9... stop typing that shytte..whatever you think of Corbyn you cannot deny that he is out there campaigning, day after day, talking to people, large crowds everywhere he goes..he is honest, up-front and principled, that is clear to see.
Where are the Tories?
They are hiding away in case they **** up
She refuses to do live debate.
She speaks to hand picked Tory audiences who stand around nodding at every word she utters.
- check her out in the next fortnight..a shocking do-nothing campaign so far by her and them.
Running scared.

Re: Theresa May on top form today...
The advantage of the wall to wall coverage of the election is that if you hide from the press and the people, its really, really obvious that is waht you are doing.
All the leaders who are making every effort to meet people are getting more coverage, and all are coming across well (well, apart from Nuttall, but that isn't his fault, the Tories have nicked his reason for existence).
If enough young people register, and if enough people tactically vote, then this might not be the coronation that the Conservatives are hoping for.

Re: Theresa May on top form today...
Estimates are that over 10 million pensioners will lose the winter fuel allowance of between £200 and £300. Since there are nowhere near that many pensioners in the "millionaire bracket" this means that even those pensioners who have managed to scrape together some modest savings will be worse off.
Interestingly, the radical idea proposed by Theresa May in an article published in The Sun newspaper of capping the highest energy tariffs meaning many on these rates would be £100 per annum better off was not even mentioned in the manifesto. Having grabbed the headlines tory insiders say the proposal has now been ditched. Not even on the back burner.
Power to the people but at what cost?
