Officials are saying that early indications point to an accident as opposed to deliberate. Of course, everyone on Twitter is being calm and measured right now and no one is jumping to conclusions.

Because this would be the first time a drunk driver has ever killed anyone with a car.

But seriously, i can understand it too. It'd be because they want it to be the conclusion they're jumping to.

Who said they were drunk?

And I witnessed an accident happen in NYC last year - someone mounted the pavement and 2 people got hit. About 20 police ESU vans (along with fire trucks and ambulances) were there in about a minute - they obviously take every vehicle accident like that as a potential terrorist attack. That's probably why people jump to conclusions.

There's a difference betwen jumping to the conclusion that something is a terrorist attack, and the police taking precautions against something that might a terrorist attack.

And no one has said he was drunk.

Devastating for the 18 year old girl killed, her 13 year old sister injured. Hope the latter doesn't grow up with the mentality of "why her and not me?"

Has anyone seen the video of this incident? Doesn't look like an accident. Police also found a sword and a flag in his boot and the drivers Facebook profile has been deleted at the police's request

It wasn't an accident, the driver said so himself. He's an ex-military drug user who was loaded up on spice.

Have you seen the video? I won't link it for obvious reasons but he drives calmly up the street, then does a u turn and drives straight down the pavement for a substantial distance before the bollards stopped him
