Andre Gray
Is it just me or does Andre not look interested, every single match he doesn't fail in aggregating me with his lack of effort. Personally I would have thought he'd of kicked on after his hat-rick against Sunderland, but it just doesn't seem to have happened.
I'm certainly far from being a manager but when compared with Ings by a number of Clarets I couldn't help but laugh, however with the transfer kitty bound to be furthermore increased from 2016/17, do we think he. Will leave? And who would you replace him with, there are a number of other candidates I would like to see replaced with someone fresh but that's another matter.
Troy Deeney if available and with the slightest possibility I would push through this deal as I feel he could fit the mould alongside Jay Rod with his lack of game time under Puel, here's hoping but in the end we've had a fantastic season and hats off to all the lads as they have certainly worked hard as a team through grit and determination. UTC

Deeney will cost in excess of £20 million plus wages, same with Jay Rod.
You're recommending we spend £40 million to replace Gray?

Jay Rod? Just no.
Deeney, again, would take a massive amount of cash to pry him away, and a massive wage.

Minus the fee for selling a Gray and his wages , he's simply not good enough for the Premier league .Sidney1st wrote:Deeney will cost in excess of £20 million plus wages, same with Jay Rod.

Yes it probably is just you.
A disinterested player wouldn't be running the channels after virtual lost causes, or getting himself into goal scoring positions or chasing defenders down and applauding his fellow team mates for decent balls.

Re: Andre Gray
I've watched game in game out, literally I'm overweight and play five a side once a week and I run more than him, yes not as quick but today he should have made sure he gave Collins a lesson, but no.
As for replacements I don't know, yes I said deeney and jay rod as I think they would work but would cost around 30 mill, but if gray goes and Keane then why not lump some money on a couple of strikers, whoever they may be.

Re: Andre Gray
Have people been watching a different back end to the season, Gray has been shocking! Literally meant to be our number one performer and he's not anywhere near to player of the year, what does that say? If Gray didnt run now and again then he literally would be a statue; just simply not good enough going forward for where we need to be at next season.

Re: Andre Gray
Should probably have scored twice today but did set one up and made a few good runs in the first half. He'd have benefitted more in the second if we'd had Defour on the pitch at the same time.
Arfield staying on was baffling today.

Re: Andre Gray
If you're wanting his replacement to fit our style it's crouch.
If your wanting it to be like for like it's long.
If your wanting an upgrade on goals, how long have you got ( both aforementioned could match his tally th from this year easily )

How is 9 goals for a striker good? I'm dumbfounded, did knowone see the amount of chances the guy spurned today? Most notably his shocking back heel when Brady had broken into the area?!

Is 9 goals bad for a striker in his first season in the top flight that also included a ban and time on the bench?

Re: Andre Gray
So if I were to say the calibre of players in each position we should be looking at would be:
Robertson & maguire Hull
Hughes derby
A new winger but I don't know who
Someone like Deeney or Abraham

9 goals in a first PL season is very good indeed, he will get better and better hence the interest from clubs much bigger than us

With his pace and 15/16 campaign, he should be bagging 15 or so but what do I know, you all seem to think he's amazing.

Would you give Abraham any more time if he didn't get the amount of goals that you think a forward should get in his first season in the Premier League?

Re: Andre Gray
Well he clearly is replaceable, seeming as though Barnes and Vokes have managed to keep him out the team more games than expected, open your eyes and realise minus the Sunderland game he's got 6!
Re: Andre Gray
How many "important" goals has Gray scored this year? I:e winners or equalisers? He seems only to score in games when we're playing well or winning (but I'm happy to be proven wrong). I'm just not sure that when push comes to shove and we need someone to slot a chance away that he's the best man for the job, and being our star striker that isn't good enough for me. He runs a lot, but he doesn't offer that much to the team as a whole.

Maybe your expectations were too high?
He's got 9 goals, not a bad effort for his first go in the top flight.
Deeney got 13 last season and 10 this season yet people prefer him to Gray.

Serious question.
Not good enough for another season in the premier league IMO.

Sticking up for him might be a start, Barnes and Vokes maybe similar in physique but have given more to the team 75% of the time. I would be the first to apologise if he proves me wrong next season but I doubt very much that will happen, and he may not even be at the club.

Re: Andre Gray
deeny, never in a million years, i dont like him at all.
As for gray, just requires more service that's all. I'ed be frustrated if my role was goalscorer and it rarely came my way to do my job.
I think he does work very hard. Don't forget, if he squanders a few chances it doesn't mean hes crap, even kane and co fluff their fair share, the difference being they get about ten more chances per game due to the better supply line.

No you won't be the first to apologise, you'll be hiding like the rest of the gobshites from the last few years who've whined about Dyche (KRBFC excluded).Claret1992 wrote:Sticking up for him might be a start, Barnes and Vokes maybe similar in physique but have given more to the team 75% of the time. We realistically can't afford an upgrade on Andre and with the right service he could easily get 15 next year, whether we can accomodate a creative midfielder into our system that would help that is a whole other matter

So you're saying if he fired us into top 10 with over 15 goals I wouldn't hold my hand up? Seeming as though he would have done something we all want to achieve? Well I would because I literally only want us to get 3pts on the board each game.

Tom Cairney has just 11 PL appearances, so he may not be the player you're hoping.
Ramirez looked great in the championship and bonk in the PL.

Re: Andre Gray
I'm all for debate but that figure is based on absolutley nothing. 9 goals isn't bad for a striker in their first season, but he's been far from clinical, and again I raise the chance he missed today as an example. I can understand why some want to give him another go and I don't think they are wrong, they just have a slightly different opinion. That being said you can't say he could easily get 15 next year. The evidence so far is that he's hit 9 and been outscored by Vokes, who at a fraction of his cost has also offered far more to the team.Wilsdenclaret wrote:We realistically can't afford an upgrade on Andre and with the right service he could easily get 15 next year, whether we can accomodate a creative midfielder into our system that would help that is a whole other matter
I had to eat dirt the other week when we won at Palace so I'll be happy to do so if proven wrong, I'd just like another option who is a better finisher than Gray. We have so few chances we need to ensure we take them.

I like Andre Gray but I don't think he's irreplaceable. It's important to remember that he's come a long way in a short space of time so we shouldn't necessarily expect wonders from him in his first Premier League season. But, based on the service he's received and the number of games he's played, he's offered a reasonable return. I'd like to see us play to his strengths more next season.

Re: Andre Gray
Yes he could've done better but to write him off is extreme.
Jay scored 6 goals in his first full PL season at Saints.
16 the next one before his knee injury.
With more team improvements this summer I think Gray will get more then 10 next season, closer to 15.

I absolutely love the work ethic of Hendrick, yes he doesn't often win motm but he's a grittty determined player who puts in 100% and never stops, never gets subbed, links up well and still has more in the tank when needed, thoughts?
