Sundays Ripon card

well wasnt my day yesterday with 2 of the horses trading long odds on in running ( sub 1.4 ) but neither winning....the long shots with the exvception of the 1st one bombed out....felt a little bit like after the lord mayors show....just done the Ripon card today....the ground has been described as good and a dry day forecast so it may be on the faster side of good later on in the card.


2 00 ...DE BRUYNE HORSE 8.4 BETFAIR
this is reopposing the odds on fav way of wisdom today....I have laid the fav @ 1.67.
the bet has an action suggesting good or slower ground would suit....ground on debut was g/f
so thats a plus....also this is 6f and not 5f which could also suit better....then throw into the mix
that the fav is worst drawn in 1 and the bet is best drawn in 8 plus the fav now has to concede 7lbs
to all the field so at 4/6 I have laid with a small bet on de bruyne horse.
newcomers weellan and musbaq are from yards who can get them ready first time out and
are running for me against the fav....I think the fav is a potential drifter in this and wouldnt
be surprised if it drifted to odds against.

2 35... ARNOLD 5.7 BETFAIR
appeared to not stay the 7f last time and this is the horses optimum trip.

3 10... GOLCONDA PRINCE 9.6 BETFAIR
been a bit weak in the betting but could change later,,,,I want to be against the market leaders...
warm love from the omeara yard ( trainer of coolfitch) I just dont trust this outfit with fancied horses
at small tracks as they often lay them out for bigger targets.
alshibaa has a knee action and may need softer....ritas man won last time and the handicapper perhaps
has his measure....which probably leaves lucys law or unexposed golconda prince....decided on fahey and hanagan
with bottom weight.

3 40...GURKHA FRIEND 5.7 BETFAIR
my original pick is a none runner
I think the other 3 fancied runners knight owl...miss van gough and snoana all have negatives.
knight owl and miss van gough possibly need slower ground and snoano may need further
so I prefer course winner Gurkha Friend who will probably try to make all....I have taken 5.7
and will try to lay off in running at around 2.2.

4 10 ...LOVE ISLAND 9.7 BETFAIR
this horse won this race 3 years ago and has run well from bad draws twice since in this race
its a huge advantage to be drawn within 4 stalls of high rail which is where he is today
my original selection was his stablemate tumblewind but I am concerned about the 5 draw...
that horse is 18 on betfair so will have a small bet at that price.
the bet hasnt had a run which isnt ideal but the trainer does seem to target this meeting
and with mulrennan booked and well drawn I think the price is fair enough.

4 40 MATHIX 5.4 BETFAIR
the other 2 favs both have knee actions
I have backed mathix ew and taken 1.7 for the place
he is highest rated in race and will be running on his merits as has had 3 runs
so can win this without his handicap mark being effected....excellent stable
and de sousa ride.

5 10 ENTERTAINING BEN 7.5 BETFAIR
trappy race but I like the draw and like the fact that excellent 7lb claimer
finley marsh rides...should run a solid rce and hopefuly place at least.

thats it for the day...dropped the irish and jumps for the summer....there will be an odd bet from those but not many...Ripons card today is pretty competitive and I am hoping to do better today than previous years when I have gone to this meeting

same as me that dj..laid the fav as well...so decent start....time was a g/f time...no cut in the ground there today....avoid any soft ground horses today as the ground will only get quicker with the wind.

dont forget to have a little on tumblewind...love island and tumblewind around 12.5 on betfair now...both of them...might suggest the stable are fancying tumblewind more than love island...I am on both.
