Re: Breaking News Manchester Evening News Arena Explosions
BBC news reporting the explosion was in the ticket box area of the foyer.
Looks like a lot of injuries would have been caused in the panic of the evacuation. These are mainly young teenagers so the terror would be contagious. Reporters and attendees saying stewards had abandoned their posts and no-one was supervising the evacuation!
Reports that it is likely that deaths are in double figures.

Re: Breaking News Manchester Evening News Arena Explosions
Probably couldn't "safely" get the bomb into the concert proper without being discovered and just targetted where lots of people would be.bfcmik wrote:News reporting explosion was in the area where kids would be waiting for parents or buying merchandise. Deliberate targeting.

incredibly sad, nobody should go to a concert and not come back. My heart breaks for those young eyes that have witnessed such an horrific event and also for Ariana Grande, this will take an awful lot of strength for them all to get through it

Re: Breaking News Manchester Evening News Arena Explosions
Just waking up to this. Not sure if my daughter was there or not (her mother doesn't communicate with me much about what they do, and neither does my daughter (on instruction from her mum)). I do know she had a birthday present she wouldn't tell me about and that she is a fan of Ariana Grande.
I'm sure she's fine, I don't even know if she was there - it's the not knowing that is difficult.
RIP to those who died - just shocked by this

Terrible news and my sympathies to all those affected by it.
It won't be long before we find it's a home grown fanatic and someone will blame this on foreign policy, assuming this was ISIL inspired.
I'll keep my comments re Corbyn and the Green party policy for another day and another thread.

Re: Breaking News Manchester Evening News Arena Explosions
My heart sank when I heard the news this morning, I saw snapchats from my best mates girlfriend who was there and they thankfully weren't hurt.
MENArena said that the blast happened outside the arena by the foyer.
Targeted attack knowing that it would be teenage girls as the main demographic. Absolute cowardice and for what f***ing gain?
I maintain than until we deal with the root of the issue, Wahhabism, and the country who sponsor terrorism, Saudi Arabia, it'll be the same cycle again and again.
I'm ****** off. I am sick of the same cycle but what can we do about a problem that's homegrown? That's underground? That can be carried out by lone psychos with access to the internet?

Re: Breaking News Manchester Evening News Arena Explosions
Horrific news. I can assure you that the initial word coming out was that this was some freak accident and that was actually being reported by some American news outlets. My 'source' was a family member who works for GMP who categorically said NOT terrorist related initially with initial thoughts being some sort of gas explosion. (Industrial balloon filling gas canister). Clearly she was unaware of something very significant at that stage. It will be interesting to see how the timeline of events unfold.
More importantly, as the father of a girl who is now at the age of attending concerts like this, I'm appalled that such a concert would be targeted. Innocent children. Clearly no life is worth more than another but Take That have been on all weekend, a sell out concert, however they choose to wait for a concert that would be predominantly attended by children

Re: Breaking News Manchester Evening News Arena Explosions
Went to bed early last night so just waking up to the news, absolutely devastated.
My heart goes out to the victims, their families and everyone affected.
My wife and sis-in-law were just at The Arena last Wednesday and we were planning a night out in Manchester this Friday to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
We'll still be going but more out of support for the great city of Manchester and a **** you to the cowardly **** terrorists than a celebration.

Like many others woke up this morning to this shocking news.
They have targeted an event that would be predominantly attended by young girls, not that any event should be targeted.
Thoughts are with everyone who had somebody there

Re: Breaking News Manchester Evening News Arena Explosions
Absolutely horrendous news to wake up to this morning. It really does make you question what this world is all about.
It does make you think if you should change your plans too. I'm due to watch The Courteeners at Old Trafford on Saturday with my wife and two lads. My wife is thinking we shouldn't go now but, as Vintage Claret says, do we let them "win"?
Thoughts with all involved
