Anonymity for terrorists.
How do you start a campaign for anonymity for terrorists.
I don't need to know his name, or where he lived, or where he came from. He was ****, that's all I need to know.
So long as the authorities are aware and can track down any associates, broadcasting who he is just serves to encourage other, like minded, **** bags.
An unmarked grave and let the **** rot in hell.

I don't think it's possible, but i'll welcome being wrong. Just be utterly indifferent to who they are or what they claim to be doing it for.

Re: Anonymity for terrorists.
That doesn't help the issue.
To understand why they're so easily brainswashed we need to know who they are, where they've come from etc.
A decent number of these people will have grown up in the UK, yet are deteremined to reject our way of life etc and we need to know why.
Some of these people are clever, attending Uni etc and still feel the need to blow themselves up.
Ignoring who they are and their jouney to becoming a terrorist makes it worse.

He's not talking about learning who they are etc, he's suggesting from a media point of view, to not discuss who they are.
Keeping them out of the limelight is something I definitely agree with.
Do all the work on the quiet, police need to know the details, but we don't.

We all need to know who they are though, that was my point.
I'd like to know if this was a homegrown person who's been brainwashed, or someone who's come along recently from abroad.

Ideally we need to know who they are before they blow themselves up. There not much achieved by sharing their name after the fact.
We can still be informed if it was homegrown or not without being told their name.

Re: Anonymity for terrorists.
Similar to drug dealers, it's those "higher up" the chain that need to be stopped.
If a dealer on a street is banged up, someone else will always be found to take their place.
When a terrorist blows himself up, another will be found to brainwash into being next.
Catching a terrorist before he strikes may prevent him from attacking but there will be someone else to step into his shoes.

Much of the reporting on these awful events surely serves to fuel the extremists on both sides.

As much as I understand the sentiment, I'm not sure censorship is the way to combat this issue or a road that we want to start down for a whole variety of reasons.

Re: Anonymity for terrorists.
I'm all in favour of censorship as regards the identity of the **** bag as it elevates them
to the status of martyr. That is not a good thing and provides more encouragement for
others to do the same, if they indeed need more encouragement.
Details of their background, ethnicity, education, nationality etc are important for us to
be aware of so we are not going through life with a blinkered view, and we at least have
a little knowledge of what makes these ar$eholes do what they do.

Agree we don't need their names. Dont need their faces on front pages as they want that. ( as with that evil monster that died the other day). Sick moron will be rotting in hell somewhere. One day we will learn not to welcome people back from Syria with open arms ( not saying this is the case here) and pandering to the PC brigade. Root them out and punish them properly

I've got family who're of Moroccan and Pakistani descent, by either birth or marriage (my sister converted to marry her now husband), but all are Muslims and I'd be interested to know what sets these people off to do this sort of thing.spadesclaret wrote:We all need to know

I'll have a chat with them too when I next see them, but ultimately I just want a better understanding of it.
Some of these terrorists aren't stupid, some are at Uni, others are leading experts in their profession of choice whilst at the other end of the scale there are those who're career criminals who're seeking redemption of some sort I suppose.
I've just started to study various books on Islam, just to educate myself after seeing comments on here from someone who thinks more people should try to understand Islam etc, but I'll never be of the mindset to kill others.
Remember that teacher in Africa who got into trouble for allowing the children in her class to name a teddy after Muhammad?
It was 10 yrs ago.
At the time I asked a friend of mine, who's of Pakistani descent and a muslim, about this and it was like a switch was flicked inside his head, he just started ranting and advocating the execution of this woman.
I'd never seen anything like it in my life, but it did open my eyes a lot, especially as I'd only ever known this lad as a nice hard working bloke who I had a lot of time for and always seemed up for a laugh.
I still know him and chat to him, I just avoid certain topics of conversation.
He's still a nice, hard working bloke who's now raising a family of his own.

Re: Anonymity for terrorists.
Publishing the name of the perpetrator and putting his picture all over social media, on the front of the papers and on the news bulletins is exactly what he would have wanted, and what all terrorist organisations want.
Out of respect for all the dead and their families, we can't have a news blackout on this sort of thing, but sadly the more publicity we give to this type of atrocity the more it fuels the flames for the next one.

Re: Anonymity for terrorists.
Instructing the press to deliberately withhold information is censorship. I recognise that it already happens to some degree to protect privacy of individuals or for reasons of security but I'm not sure that pretending a murderer didn't have an identity would have any positive outcome. If anything, I'd go the other way and suggest that it will inevitably lead to people speculating about the identity of perpetrators and that could have dangerous consequences.Imploding Turtle wrote:No one is talking about censorship.

Interesting, Sidney - it is astonishing how a person brought up and living in a reasonably civilised country such as ours can have such much pent-up hatred.
Where does it stem from - I understand Trump's withering "losers" jibe but the fact is some of these headcases, on the face of it, are far from it.
We do need to get to the root cause of this lunacy.

He will presumably be introducing and drilling into his family the same bile and
ridiculous feeling of superiority over all others, thus perpetuating his vile beliefs.

Will he be raising his son as a Muslim?
Yes he is, of that I'm sure, but it's no different to people being raised as a Christian from birth and having it drilled into you the same sort of bile, as you've put it.

I agree that it's not tied on that he will, but if he can fly into a rage with an
outsider, who he can't influence, what will he do with members of his family
who ask similar questions ?
I think we all know the answer to that one.
I and Joey will put money on it anyway !!!!

Re: Anonymity for terrorists.
An attack and the fear which spread afterward is the main aim, not the fame that comes with death. No one remembers the names of modern day terrorist after all, IS probably doesn't give a damn if they report names or not as the damage is already done regardless of who eventually undertook the attack. It's the action itself not the who that matters to them and us.
To hide them away and give the impression it could be anyone; a faceless omnipresent menace would be even worse. Better to give the details of who these sad, loners who for some reason hate us are for the public to see how little they represent our society and anything good.

I know they haven't progressed as much as the West in various aspects, but we aren't helping that situation.Funkydrummer wrote:Sidney, the keyword there is history. We have moved on from those days, but sadly

Yes in some aspects they're behind us, but in all fairness they've had hundreds of years of the West trying to control or dictate to them.
There's a lot of bottled up issues/resentment that have been caused by the West and this has led to our situation today.
If the West hadn't carved up the middle east after WW2 would we be in this position today?
I doubt it.
If we hadn't then spent the following decades continuously sticking our noses into their politics, picking and choosing who we want to control their countries I also suspect we wouldn't be where we are today.
We just can't let them get on with their lives though, our governments feel an absolute need to try and force democracy onto countries around the world.

I was once having a nice chat in a launderette about this and that, the proprietor was a middle aged Pakistani gentleman, the subject of Salman Rushdie cropped up , I said my bit about freedom of expression etc, then two of hos sons came in and it went to **** in about one minute.
Indescribable intolerance for my viewpoint. Really very angry, and irrational reaction from them. I found it both shocking, and worrying.

I know loads of Muslims who are about as liberal as me. Don't even really care much for their religion, it's just a cultural thing that their parents put onto them as being important.
In a few generations Islam will be the same as what Christianity is today, just something you say you are but don't really do much about.

Aye, it will be like the Methodist churches around here.
Every halloween, they don't let their kids do it, instead they have a "festival of light" where the kids all dress up (absolutely no monsters/devils etc etc) while everybody else recognises its all just harmless fun.
Much prefer that type of religion to be honest, but it does take time, two reformations, a shed load of tolerance and equal rights to get there!

Super Johnny Major as PM wouldn't allow us to bring in identity cards as it breached civil liberties. This is now necessary to be able to recognise the need to clamp down on the use of multiple identities by Muslims .
How often have we seem that a person is described as aka three different names.
As some one also touched on why did we allow free movement of terrorists fresh from fighting for Dahesh to carry on without any sanction.Surely this is a major concern as the British subjects are now a major threat to our values with their poisonous ideology.

Like all things Islam has extremes

Re: Anonymity for terrorists.
I have to admit, it's the intolerance that is so anti British, that pisses me off the most. The vast majority of Muslims may well disagree with our views / life style, but they accept it, just as I hope we accept them. The people who can lose all focus and rationale over the smallest of innocent comments are a different breed. If they truly believe that, then I truly believe they shouldn't be here.
Every religion has its hypocrites, but Muslim does appear to be more extreme. The Three Girls a prime example. I would also add that the hatred is not confined to Christians or Jews, the conflict between Shiites and Sunnys is spread through most of the Muslim world.
Yet I worked with a Muslim doctor who was raised in Tunisia I think, who had Jewish friends as a child growing up. It's only the bad news that gets publicised.
I have always maintained and still believe that terrorism is a problem we can contain, but only Muslims can solve it, by standing up to those who preach hatred.

It must help with the investigation into these evil despicable **** bags and any potential associates that they may have. So a name and a picture may just jog a memory or a sighting that might just help prevent further attrocities..Damo wrote:Not sure that these cowards are blowing themselves up to get on Granada tonight to be honest.
Why shouldn't they be named? We are quite happy to name serial killers etc
The public are very important to the authorities in helping unearth these vermin.
My heart goes out to all the innocent victims and their families at this dreadful time RIP.

Scoop up as much of the vile scumbag as you can and feed it to the pigs!
It's about time the islamic world stood up and denounced these sickening jihadist psychopaths! They're lightening quick to protest & March against Israel.
As usual the silence will be deafening.

Re: Anonymity for terrorists.
I have lived approx. 15 years in different Muslim countries, my children have had many Muslim friends come to the house and I learned a lot. I knew some Muslim women and a few men also. After all that time and being there I have absolutely no idea on how they think and yet people form the west keep talking about how we need to understand them, you will never comprehend there thought process and why they do things.
You really need to employ people with the same mentality who do understand them and get them to help plan to reduce what happens but you can never stop this completely, religion has been killing people for well over 2000 years, long before Christ was even born. It's not knew and neither is terrorism, one mans terrorist is another's hero, there was a Jewish leader who was wanted for terrorist crimes and yet our leaders met him. Ireland another good example.
I wish understanding them was easy and that it would put a stop to it but alas no it wont, not for a long time, and not in my, or my children's and grand children's life times.
However what I find interesting in all this absolute mess is that in Germany there was the Baidor Meinof (sorry about spelling) and they just seemed to disappear, why, how, can a lesson be learnt there perhaps. Ireland we know why how it stopped to a great extent but we are not going to annex Yorkshire as a Muslim state are we?
A very very sad state of affairs, but also to answer one post, plenty of Muslim countries have people fighting as part of the group to stop Saddam and ISIS so please don't condemn a religion and millions in various countries when you do not know.

Re: Anonymity for terrorists.
It's pretty ridiculous to want to kill someone for naming a teddy Muhammed, or for drawing him, but the thing that baffles me even more is that the whole reason it's forbidden to depict him is because he didn't want to be idolised. These idiots are literally doing what he told them not to do and then demanding other people be killed for committing the same "crime" they're committing.Funkydrummer wrote:Christians wouldn't be calling for the execution of someone who called a teddy bear Jesus,
nor would there be a massive uproar.
