Is Alderweireld better than Keane?

With 60 caps for Belgium and as a former La Liga winner and has also played in the Champions League final - I would say an obvious yes.

Yes, he's a phenomenal player. Whichever team he has played for in his entire career have consistently been the stingiest team in the league for goals conceded. He commits far fewer fouls than any other CB in the division, his bookings are as rare as hen's teeth.

I love Keane and he's obviously done an exceptional job for us, but Alderweireld is a cut above.

Not really, I genuinely believe Mee is a better defender than Keane. Keane is just more attractive for big clubs, typical overrated centre half because he can pass.

Wether Mee is as good as Keane is a bit of a moot point really.

I would have to agree that Keane is overrated though. He's a very good defender for his age, but as I've said before Shackell looked like a premier league defender in Dyches system and he hasn't gone on to pull tree's up at Derby. I personally think he will be found wanting at a big club.

But doesn't Spurs system make him look good. For example, Gary Cahill looks good playing for Chelsea, yet put him in an England shirt and it's a different story. Cahill looks as impressive for Chelsea as Alderweirald does for Spurs, yet he's definitely no better than Keane.

To an extent I agree, the defender is only as good as the system he plays in. It all comes down to opinions, but I tend to think that because he's young and English and quite composed on the ball he gets more plaudits than he deserves. 10 million would more than likely get you Ben Mee, 25 would get you Keane. Is Keane more than twice the player?

Chips in with some good goals and terrific defending.
Keane can improve but at the moment he is quite a way below the level of Alderweireld.
