May vs Corbyn...tonight at 7.00pm
Re: May vs Corbyn...tonight at 7.00pm
Struggled on one or two bits with Paxman but overall he did a decent job. Paxman is good at what he does.

I hate myself for saying this but i agree. Wobbled a couple of times. Voice getting a bit strained. Think Paxo should have just asked one question after another instead of going back to the same oneElectroClaret wrote:Did well under fire.

Re: May vs Corbyn...tonight at 7.00pm
To surmise my opinion from tonight:
Corbyn -
Pro's
Nice fella and very devoted to his cause.
Determined socialist and clearly will not stop until he looks after the poorest in society.
Con's
Morally, I question his capability to follow up on his manifesto when his opinion is at odds with elements of it. - Nuclear renewal, etc.
Same with members of his cabinet - The police question.
I still question his commitment to safeguard UK lives should a quick decision be required to kill someone- The jihadi john scenario.
The IRA / Hammas stance still has me concerned but I understand to a degree his explanation of his motives. Unfortunately as he's pushing a manifesto which is at odds with his opinions, and his hesitance to vocalise his genuine opinion, I don't totally trust him.
Intrigued to see what happens with May, next.

Paxman as usual made it all about himself, never let's anyone answer a question, asks pointless questions about the Queen etc. He's one guy I most definitely wouldn't **** on if he was on fire, the sooner he gets off the TV the better

dedicated idealist with a believe that the world will come to his view one day...therefore ultimately a fantasist.
wont support companies that grow the economy with tax breaks or such but will pour money into social welfare for people that need looking after and make no differentiation for those that sponge of it. the issue isn't schools its the the stupidity and the attitude of a lot of parents who think that the state needs to do everything for them, how the hell do you tackle that

The majority of MPs opposed brexit, but they applied the will of the majority of the people and you're glad they did, so why are you now advocating that the opinion of MPs should count more than the people who voted for Corbyn?

Corbyn doesn't see the point in a monarchy.simonclaret wrote:Why do you think it was a pointless question?
The Labour party haven't mentioned the monarchy in their manifesto because as a party they decided to leave it in place and as party leader Corbyn followed the will of the party.
It was fairly pointless asking him why he hasn't pushed to get rid of the monarchy.

I remember a while ago Corbyn saying that whilst he'd personally be in favour of abolishing the monarchy, it's evident how much the general public loves them and therefore not an argument worth pursuing.Sidney1st wrote:Corbyn doesn't see the point in a monarchy.

'Audience laughing in PMs face is never a good look'
And before someone accuses me of quoting some left-wing, liberal loony- that was from a Sun journalist. Finally people are beginning to appreciate the fact that she's about as strong and stable as a three legged table.

Re: May vs Corbyn...tonight at 7.00pm
Corbyn did well with the audience, as one would expect.
He looked battered and bruised after Paxman, I love it when the politicians (of all parties) get their Teflon coating bashed off by Paxo, who seemed to have the tactic of showing the public exactly what Corbyn believes in, i.e. not just domestic socialism. That's why I think JC appeals to 20% of the population and many of the others will have a ABC approach (anybody but Corbyn).
May blagged her way through the public. I suspect Paxman will go easier on her, let's see.
I wouldn't vote for either ideally.

Re: May vs Corbyn...tonight at 7.00pm
Personally I think Corbyn came out of this looking better overall then May did.
This is possibly because he hasn't been in government recently whilst May has plenty that can be used to beat her with, both her own stuff and things the Tories have done.

He's stopping himself interrupting her, whereas he didn't give Corbyn an inch.
As said above, it doesn't matter though because there is nothing but hot air coming out of May.
