At least in this case, the Pakistani authorities were able to do something about it and issue warrants for the arrest of the members of this so called village court. There are areas along the Afghan border that are completely out of government control where this kind of thing goes on unabated.

(I'm talking in the 3rd person only because he isn't logged in at the moment, not because I'm trying to be a dismissive knob or anything). Any refutation of the points made would kind of play into my theory about Moffitt's views on liberalism and 'liberals' being warped by internet meme culture. My old man, for instance, who doesn't use a computer, wouldn't possibly have come to these sorts of conclusions about people whose worldviews revolve around trying to not be dicks to other people. "Be nice, stop being a $hit" seems like the kind of thing that shouldn't really face opposition.
