Re: Dyche ------->Palace
Sean Dyche has been great for Burnley and Burnley have been great for Sean Dyche. I hope he's here for some considerable time yet. If he was/is on a 12 month rolling contract he'll always be able to talk to other clubs should he choose to, I assume. I think Sean has brought us level with the likes of Crystal Palace and so this would only be a sideways move that he would only take if he felt he'd taken us as far as he can and wanted a new challenge and change of environment. He did move around quite a bit as a player.
Not even thinking of a possible successor as Burnley Football Club already have a manager.
Come on Sean, time to bring your first transfer target of the summer to the club, which will help to settle the nerves of a few supporters.

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
And his summer transfer budget.
Re: Dyche ------->Palace
Budget is healthy for dyche this summer and I suspect we will break our transfer record fee again this summer if not once then twice. With this being the matter don't expect early signings. The players we are after will take a long summer to convince to come here.

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
Comparing the books of both clubs would probably indicate that we are best organised for a potential drop and return should it happen. Palace would implode with their wage bill

Been away for a while. Is dyche tempted? Has he issued a 'I'm going nowhere'..? He would be a seamless replacement for Sam IMO.

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
According to the independent report (via palace message board), 4 men are being interviewed for the palace job- 3 are schimdt, pellergino and dyche. The other being a 'veteran European coach' (Ranieri maybe?).
Interesting if true that Dyche represents the only British coach.

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
I would be surprised if Dyche put himself in the position of a 1 in 4 chance of success. A straight offer of 'its yours,' no competitive process, is a different proposition. If he goes against the other three and fails, his situation at Burnley changes massively. He will have to watch his back as

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
If Independent is correct and Sean Dyche is one of 3 or 4 candidates being interviewed for Palace, I've no problem with this. And, I don't think it would be Dyche's style to not want to compete with other good candidates.COBBLE wrote:I would be surprised if Dyche put himself in the position of a 1 in 4 chance of success. If Board have given permission for SD to be interviewed by CP then that's good. If SD is not selected by CP then I would want him to continue with Burnley. He will continue to do his best for us...and Burnley will continue to progress. I don't think a demonstration of his own ambitions are in any way a negative for his position while he remains at Burnley.
Would love to see his updated powerpoint presentation: "What I've achieved in (almost) 5 seasons at Burnley - and how I achieved it."
Would love it more to read in his autobiography: "What I achieved in my 30 seasons at Burnley - and how we became Champions of Europe."

Good Championship Manager - 11th, 2nd and 1st
Poor Premier League Manager - 19th and 16th
If he doesn't go to Palace I'd get rid of him anyway and find someone who can win away.

If you, me, one other and Usain Bolt were to run the 100 metres, would we both have a 1 in 4 chance? (We might - arguably - have a 1 in 3 chance of finishing 2nd, but even then,I'm very slow, so I would rate my chances below that).
Only he,(and his agent), can look at the potential field and weigh up the odds.

If anyone saw the really insightful Steve Parish interview after our game, then i think they'd agree that CP will be reining in the spending this summer after spunking 40 mill+ In January. That's the impression I got anyway.boatshed bill wrote:It would be interesting to compare palace budget against Burnley's
I honestly don't think we have a problem paying transfer fees. They're just a number. It's attracting the players we want and the commitment to wages that's the stumbling point.

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
It's all made up by the indpendent, very carefully chosen words,
"Crystal Palace have begun conducting interviews over their managerial vacancy, with Roger Schmidt and Mauricio Pellegrino among those scheduled for talks this week, and Sean Dyche on Palace's radar."
Why is SD not among those scheduled and only on their radar.
"Dyche is keen to take over at Selhurst Park and has just returned from holiday, but has been slightly put out by Palace's reluctance to firm up their initial interest into a solid offer. "
Seriously, how do they know he's keen. Do they honestly believe SD has been "put out" while on holiday because he has to go through an interview process and he's certainly not arrogant enough to think he should be offered the job because he's the only candidate which is what the article is suggesting.
Very poor reporting IMO.

Zaha and Townsend aren't SD type players so if he does go, and I hope not, could we do a straight swap for Scotty and George?

Having talks this week according to Croydon Advertiser. The silence on our side is deafening. The longer the uncertainty goes on it will hamper our plans for the season. Hopefully the club are thinking about replacements and not just hoping he doesn't go.

Not sure that there's anything the club can do or say, whilst he remains our manager, and if we should happen to be looking at possible replacements and it gets out, then I think that Dyche would have a case for constructive dismissal, which presumably would jeopardise our chances of getting any compensation.Blackrod wrote:Having talks this week according to Croydon Advertiser. Re: Dyche ------->Palace
Hodgson now 6/5 for those who entertain the markets on these.
As a guide though, contact one of these sites and ask what price Dyche for Palace job and you want to put 5k on it. They will refuse the bet, offer you £100 or so at a price then make him favourite again.

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
Didn't the palace chairman say they want a manager who will build the club long term & not use them as a stepping stone to further their career. If so how can a 70 year old man like Hodgson be the favourite? Goes against his statement surely..

No, yesterday he was 4/5 in non betting terms you could say yesterday for him to go to Palace it would happen 5 times out of 9, now it would happen only 2 times in 9

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
Hi, Palace fan here, just seeing what you think of the Dyche rumours.
First of all I think Dyche is a fantastic manager and he would be a pretty good fit for us, but I don't see it. The links have come from our historic appointments and yeah historically Dyche would be exactly the type of manager Parish would be after. However historically we've made these types of appointment mid season. Parish now has the opportunity to appointment before preseason and I reckon this new situation will be (hopefully) reflected in the appointment.
As far as the odds have done, a few days ago we were nailed on for Monk, Moyes, Hodgson and SIlva so shows what good indications those are. I believe the same person reporting what Dyche has apparently said was the same person that said we were in for Silva, which we quite clearly weren't as when we were apparently talking to Silva in London, Parish was in Mallorca talking to Zaha.
(as a slight aside, I'm interested in were Parish gets his "difficult to deal with" persona comes from? Also, I wouldn't say we're particularly trigger happy with our managers, only Pardew and Burley have been sacked, Holloway mutual consent and Warnock doesn't count...the rest left)
