JD, but will he keep his seat?
I hope the Lib Dems do really well, but how many people will vote tactically to keep the Tories out?
I only did it after thinking about long and hard last night, and the front page of the newspapers was the final straw.

Re: Has anyone changed their actual vote because of a post on here
My first general election - as a reader of "social media. " Interesting exercise in reading what other people think/say/do and seeing the arguments that are made for various opinions. I imagine the psephologists will have fun (and maybe also nightmares) studying the way people think about their politics.
Not my first general election, of course, that was way back in 1970 and I've not missed one, yet.

No but even though I live in the safest seat in the world, it did encourage me to go out and vote, just because...

Re: Has anyone changed their actual vote because of a post on here
Yes. I am normally a lib dem voter but after the massive amount of main stream media attached on Jeremy Corbyn who, to be fair to him, has behaved honestly and honourable during the election debates I have voted Labour.
My constiuency is currently a massive Tory stronghold with Nadine (I can't stand the place so I won't live there, but the jungle is still inviting because there's money involved) Dorries

I remain a brexiter.
Re: Has anyone changed their actual vote because of a post on here
I wasn't sure when the election was called which way I was going to vote but when I saw some of the views of the people voting Conservative it made me more sure that my initial inkling to vote Labour was the right call.
Re: Who are you
Can't vote

Re: General Election 2017 Mega Thread
Two hours till the polls close. Hopefully you've all gone out and voted.
As the day goes on I feel it'll be a bigger and bigger Tory majority.

No Education, NHS and social care were key issues for me so voted Labour. Just getting my petrol bombs ready for the riot with all the other lefties tomorrow.

Yes, somebody mentioned that Labour would increase the minimum wage to £10 ph.
Show me the voting slip.

Re: General Election 2017 Mega Thread
Voted Labour - felt their campaign peaked about two weeks ago, good effort though.
Since then seems more and more like there's going to be a Conservative majority so waking up to anything better than that will be a bonus.
For the most part have enjoyed the political discussions on here

Re: General Election 2017 Mega Thread
Voted to re-elect my MP who has proved to be an excellent constituency representative and is widely regarded as an excellent Deputy Speaker by members of all parties and also very well respected. I for one will not be persuaded by Tory election pamphleteers ( Express, Mail, Sun, Telegraph, Times etc) nor by personal misguided TM's letters who thinks I shouldn't vote for anyone but her as she needs her hand holding in Brexit talks poor lamb.

Hello everybody! I hope you don't mind me joining the debate at this late stage! I've read most of the election threads (but am defs going to get out more after tomorrow!), have found them interesting (some of the time!), and a bit harsh/extreme (some of the time!), and a bit childish the rest of the time! I'm sure someone can produce a graph while we twiddle our thumbs til Jeremy Vine steps out with the swingometer! (Please don't!) I'm Labour to my core and think Jeremy is the best candidate for PM since John Smith (from any party). This country would be a different and far better place had he not died. Corbyn is our last hope of getting anywhere near to what might have been had Smith been able to fulfill his promise. We were robbed by his death, and we've been robbed by politicians ever since. I voted Labour today despite the fact that I can't stand my Rvers supporting, back stabbing candidate. (that's Corbyn's back, btw, not mine!). I'm not optimistic. But I'll be staying up! It's gotta be done - even at my age!

Voted nice and early. Would normally vote UKIP but now we have Brexit it was a no brainer to vote Conservative. A Corbyn-McDonnell-Abbott power axis would be the stuff of nightmares.

It's not an excuse, it's an opinion that is supported by history. Just look at how viciously they treated "Red Ed". And Watch how viciously they treat whoever is next in that job.Damo wrote:Getting your excuses in early arnt you? That's got to be a good sign

I'm sure they'll feel better in about 15 minutes when the exit poll projections are announced.

He was a turd.
If his brother had got the job I suspect Labour would've won the last election or had a better chance in this one.
If it was a choice of May or David Miliband the election would be over by now because David comes across far far better.

You'd think that can only mean they are predicting one of two things:Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Pollsters 'fascinated' by the Exit Poll results.
- Tory massive majority; or
- Alliance between other parties a possibilty.
Gut feeling says the latter.

Re: General Election 2017 Mega Thread
Welcome to the political mb, Sue. Very good summary of our "debates" over the past 6 weeks or so. I'm expecting IT to post some graphs over the w/end - once he's got over the excitement of the results (whatever they are). Of course, the rest of us won't understand them.accy sue wrote:Hello everybody! I hope you don't mind me joining the debate at this late stage! Yes, John Smith's untimely passing was a loss to the nation. More so, Jo Cox. What unites us is always more important than what divides us.
Only 8 minutes left (now 7) by my clock. Let's the "exit polls" begin. When I was younger - and was allowed a drink - watching the results through the night was a lot of fun. I'll keep going until around 1 a.m. tonight - and then sleep soundly until about 4 - and see what the sunrise brings.
Enjoy the night, everyone.

Worth noting that the exit poll 2 years ago showed 316 and they ended up with a Majority.
