Chris Wood £15m anyone?
Chris Wood £15m anyone?
Premier League newcomers Huddersfield will try to sign Leeds United's New Zealand forward Chris Wood, 25, for £15m. (Sun)
If this is anything to go by, it's going to be the most insane window to date.

They are also trying to sign Aaron Mooy for £12M and another player whose name escapes me for about £8M.

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
Not for me thanks.
Had a good season at Leeds, but there's no evidence he can continue that sort of form.
I'd sooner have big Sam vokes thank you.

It looks like Huddersfield will be going all out for survival then. They play some good football so a few players could very well see them stay up.
Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
From seeing interviews with Hoyle, I expected him to be a little restrained in the market. Although wealthy, I don't think he himself has the money to be risking it too much, certainly not by Premier League standards.

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
I'm still kicking myself a bit for not placing a promotion bet on them last season when they were 2nd/3rd faves to go down. It just shows that bookies don't actually watch the football, because in their pre-season friendlies they played some wonderful football and looked an easy top 6 side.

It will be a crazy summer if Wood is being considered at £15 million

Their owner is already bank rolling their debts, rumoured to be between £30-40 million.
With the PL money they get they probably don't need to so much to their ground or training facilities so they can funnel more towards player purchases.

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
CW isn't worth 3 million let alone 15 million,if they are going to rely on CW scoring the goals to keep them up,they will get less points than Derby did a few seasons back....he's not very good

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
Although a newish ground, if you think of the changes we have had to make each PL year, I suspect they will have quite a bit to do still.Sidney1st wrote:Their owner is already bank rolling their debts, rumoured to be between £30-40 million.

3D/HD, Floodlights, Press facilities etc. Probably not huge in the grand scheme but I reckon fit will run into the millions.

Surely they've missed out the decimal point between the 1 & 5

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
I suspect Wagner has looked at how we played this season and how effective having Barnes and Vokes up top was. They don't have that option at present and he's probably the only one in the Championship they could go for in that mould - 15 million is ridiculous though

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
So people on here rate gray at £20-25 but say Chris wood isn't worth £15 million! 40 goals in 80 games for Leeds its a good record an if gray is still learning at 25 then so is wood at 25

Mooy for £12m would be a good signing.

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
Some clubs go up and waste money in dross.
Bamford and Gestede to name but two.
Chris Wood has always been overrated .One good season with Dirty Leeds doesn't make him worth £15 m. £2 m max.

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
I'll bet more than a few fans of other clubs think our transfer dealings last season were a bit excessive for the product.
Wood is worth what someone will pay for him and opinions mean very little.

Would prefer to pay £20m to get Vokes who is proven. We don't want to be paying daft money for average players. Need to look abroad.

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
I agree that Vokes is a better player, and he appears to be improving. Very much a Premier League player now. An international Premier League player.
Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
They built a new ground in the 90s and its still decent..Sidney1st wrote:Their owner is already bank rolling their debts, rumoured to be between £30-40 million.

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
I'm sure I read somewhere, that even Brighton were having to spend 4 or 5 mill to bring their ground up to premier league standard, floodlights etc.

Re: Chris Wood £15m anyone?
It's around £5 million apparently. They need to improved the floodlighting, increase the media areas and put a TV studio in place. Huddersfield will also have to do all that and I would suspect it will cost them more than it is costing Brighton. Huddersfield's ground is not far short of a quarter of a century old now.Turfytop wrote:I'm sure I read somewhere, that even Brighton were having to spend 4 or 5 mill to bring their ground up to premier league standard, floodlights etc.

Chris Wood for a club record fee?
