Absolutely no sign of an imminent return. A very reliable source informed me over Christmas that his recovery is taking longer than expected and very little chance of playing again in the next few months.

One of the best attacking midfielders in Championship before injury. With Ward & Hendrick from ROI squad plus Tarkowski and Gray former teammates - must be worth a punt before he goes somewhere else?

He's just signed a new two year deal at Brentford. It will be a year next weekend since he last played when he suffered his injury at Ipswich.

When we were linked with him, before the injury, I think he'd have been an outstanding signing. We were trying really hard to get him in January last year. He's not going to get a move now because of the injury. They've said he's close to a return.

Fair enough. he was outstanding before his injury but that was solely based on one excellent season. Before that, at 28, he not done much.

If the player has signed a two year deal good on him he is repaying the club that has stood by him while he was not able to play.
I hope he makes a full recovery and plays again for the club he has signed for, seems like loyalty is not dead.

Well he's still at Brentford and IF back to full fitness he is better than what we've already got..and he's Irish.

He's not played since April 2016 but signed a new contract at Brentford three months ago. A week later it was confirmed that he needed further surgery.

I was pleased when we were linked with him in Jan 2016 and he was Brentford's best player by a mile when we played them down there. But definitely a ship that's passed now. He'll be hoping he can just regain fitness.
