If as the report says they would take a hit on the 10m they paid he would be worth looking at, if they fancy making a profit on him I think he will still be there at the end of August. Never seem to have a bad game when I saw him play for Hull but his few games I have seen at West Ham he was invisible.

At £50k a week, he could just about be within our wage budgets assuming they have moved up a bit again.

Snodgrass is definitely worth a look as a replacement for Boyd surely? If we can get him for anywhere around £8 million he'd be decent business. West Ham don't really play to his strengths like Hull did, but I think he'd be suited to us nicely. Along with Brady, his set piece delivery would give us real threat and would hopefully see an end to Arfield taking any corners or free kicks!! A midfield 4 of Brady, Westwood, Hendrick and Snodgrass wouldn't be too bad you know.

Quality player.

West Ham was always a strange move for him (money probably) and them (not what they needed).

Whilst I rate him and think he would be a decent signing, £10m for a 29 year old is pushing it for a club like ours. I'm all for us spending 10 to 20 million on a player or two, but they would ideally be ones that we have a chance to turn a good profit on - young, hungry, good character and talented.

I'm hoping that Butterfield has his eyes firmly on this sort of player from Europe.

Didn't SD say things along the lines of "he's motivated by other things" when we had the bid accepted in Jan?

Not sure he'd be interested if that was the case

Never seen him have a bad game for Hull either. Though admit I've not watched them that much.
As a replacement for George, yes please!
If the price is right, of course.

He chose West Ham over us. I know it didn't work out for him but we've moved on. So should he.
We've bigger priorities than another winger, especially if Taylor signs next Monday.

Good player. I would certainly be interested if, as mentioned above, we could steal him. Not interested at £10m + big wages.

Interestingly, saw some stats on Snodgrass last season and he was right up there for ground covered/hard work so his work rate can't be questioned and he has a bit more ability on the ball than other options we have been relying on over the last couple of years.

Whilst he's not slow he isn't particularly quick either. I would like to see us add some pace in wide areas which will help with ball retention and playing on the break away from home.

Apart from the money, he probably chose WHU because he thought they had more chance of remaining in the league than we did...cant really blame him for that. Quality player though, would love to see him here.

Not sure about that myself. We have two very good wingers IMO with a decent back-up in Arfield (if he stays). I would suggest a new CB, RB, CM and (goal scoring) CF would all be more of a priority than a winger, unless the right one becomes available at the right price (which IMO Snodgrass isn't).

If youre classing JBG as one of the two very good wingers then youre being a bit hopeful as whilst he looks like a good footballer and has shown glimpses of real talent he has not nearly played enough for us and at this level to say he will be a very good Premier League winger

Getting Snodgrass and having a player like JBG as your 3rd choice pushing the other two is exactly where we should be heading and would be a real sign that Dyche is taking this club forward and up yet another level

Yes we should move on and not care about the fact he chose West Ham over us and now make a decision on whether signing him this summer would be a good move for our club

An excellent player for many years at Hull, never quite seemed to fit at WHU but there's still a quality player underneath.

Might put the wind up Brady a bit who seemed to be second on the list when we lost out on Snodgrass in January.
Brady also seemed to be our key set piece taker which I'd put Snodgrass straight on If he came.
His free kicks literally picked up points for Hull, like that bl**dy 94th min equalizer...

would like to see him here, but like most other rumours not getting excited yet bit like Walters, we will probably be offering less than the 10MM so will also depend if WH are prepared to let him go for what we offer.

£8M and £40-50k p/w is about as expensive as we'd be able to go I imagine and I'd rather our marquee signings were ones we've got a chance of bringing on a bit and making a profit on - I was one of the ones preferring Brady to Snodgrass in January. But Snodgrass is class and I could see him winning us games cutting inside from the right. Yeah get him, we got loadsa money now.

With Brady and Snodgrass we would have the most creative wingers playing together since Morley and Cochrane.

That really is a mouth watering prospect.

I think he's way over the top of our wage structure (Brady thought to be our current highest on around £35k)

Would like to see us dig deep for a marquee signing but, for me, Snodgrass does not come into that bracket

Regardless of age, foot etc I believe that - potentially one year on from promotion:

Snodgrass + JBG + Brady > Boyd + Arfield + Kightly

Its a yes from me

If we can get him for less than the £10m we were ready to pay in January, and his wages fit our structure, then I'd be happy with Snodgrass. He's not had a good spell at West Ham, but he's got bags of quality and would certainly add value to us.

Another one to look at could potentially be Enner Valencia, who West Ham are also willing to let go. Again there are doubts about whether he'd fit our budget though.

People are happy to pay £3m for a crap forward who doesn't score many goals and is nearly 34 yet are moaning about the prospect of a genuinely good player who is 29.

Where does your logic come from. Smh

We bought Brady because he chose West Ham, or do you think we would have bought them both.
I'm happy having JBG on one wing, Taylor on the other, Brady who can play either and Scotty as cover for all 3.
It's not that Snodgrass is no good, but if/when Keane moves on, and even if AG stays, I still think we need to be spending our money on other priorities.

How confident are you that Taylor's coming to play on the wing? Far as I know (I hear a lot about Leeds from mates) he's not played as a winger.

He's an attacking left back, with a good delivery.
SD's preference is to have his wingers play as extra defenders. So far we've had wingers (Boyd and Arfield) converted into extra fullbacks, I think he would like to try a natural defender, and turn him into a winger.
Only my opinion mind, but playing Taylor in front of Ward, and not replacing him, is the way he's going.

We've never played with wingers under Dyche, Wingers are forwards. Boyd and Arfield have been used as wide midfielders. And if they've been converted to/from anything, its to wide midfielders from attacking and center mid, respectively.

I'm not sure Snodgrass hasn't peaked, so to speak and would need to recover his form
from his days at Hull. Don't see him wanting to drop in wages and don't see us
wanting to shell out 50k a week either.

So a 'no-no' for me althuogh would be happy to be proved wrong.

Those long forgotten days and his peak being all the way back in... January?

He was great for Hull up until the day he left, 2 goals and an assist in his last 5 games. Then spent four months at West Ham where it never really clicked.
I'd be amazed If he'd suddenly forgotten how to be a good footballer in four months. More likely he didn't fit in the new team he was playing for.

It's Burnley, some of our fans like to change a players position.

See Darikwa, Trippier and Tarks for previous examples.

See I think ablue has missed a trick here, deploying Tarkowski on the wing could be a stroke of genius. He'd have that defensive acumen Dyche craves and his height would be useful from preventing overhit passes sailing harmlessly out of play. He has that Arfield ability of running with the ball into trouble and losing it.

Up your game ablue defensive mid was so 2015

A bit pedantic but I don't disagree, only what I said still stands, maybe he wants to see his wide midfielders get past a man and deliver a cross, as well as defend as strong as Arfield and Boyd.

Would love us to get Snodgrass.

When there was talk of him brady and snodgrass.

Preference for here and now was him or grosicki. With long term preference brady.

Would be delighted if we ended up with two of them.
