Pretty underwhelming signing tbh.
Is he better than what we have? No he is isnt.
Wasting most of our budget on a relegation candidates squad player.

I guess as a few people have suggested he will help retain the ball. But unless he is playing with Defour where is the creativity going to come from.

I like Walters and Taylor so 2 out of 3 will do me. If he allows Hendrick to push up and somehow squeeze a happy and up for it Defour in there too I'd be very happy

I've only been watching Burnley for 30 years or so but I think Cork has for me been the best central midfielder we have had in that time.

It was a close run thing with Barton but I think Joey struggled this season after his 2nd or 3rd game back.

This would be a cracking signing and a real statement of intent. People talk a lot about us lacking pace but the more glaring difference between us and the top half of the Premier League has always been with ball retention. Cork was clearly class act as an inexperienced kid with us previously, and now with several years as a regular starter at this level he seems a perfect fit for us, much like the Walters signing.

Or the deal is already done and therefore they don't need to be discreet. Pretty sure he doesn't have to fly to Ireland to sign the contract with Dyche's own Parker Pen.

1: He's a defensive midfielder. It's not his job to score and assist

2: His pass completion was 83.5%, a good distance better than anyone in our squad last season.

Think of that midfield in 93/94 with Deary, Joyce, McMinn and Eyres then we had Inchy and Super Johnny Francis ahead of them. Wasted in league 1 (as it's now called).

Seen the fact that Cork retains possession used as a negative. As well as pace - that's the thing we're crying out for. It was infuriating watching us struggle to string three passes together last season.

I still stand by what I said yesterday to Spice - our central midfield is not good enough. Jack Cork would improve it. People also say he's defensive, but he can spray a ball out wide and control a ball. Pace is less important in his position.

As I said earlier cork was cast iron this afternoon and my contact was 100% hence the offer to pay charity.

I would have thought Cork would be being brought in to help us keep hold of the ball more this year, so other teams have less chance to create opportunities, if we can stifle a few of the teams who we especially struggled against last season Away from Home me may have a chance of picking up a few more points Away as well as at the Turf.
How can we go wrong by bringing in extra experience, I would prefer to retain the ball and pass sideways than lose it and concede.

I find it astonishing that people are writing him off already.

Dyche has developed some pretty average players into decent players. Arfield, Lowton, Mee to name 3. Dyche tends to struggle to develop the more skillful players like Defour but he gets the best out of players that work hard.

Cork is the type of player that I think Dyche can develop.
