Neymar to PSG £195million, possibly agreed.
Reports circulating that PSG are set to activate the release clause in Neymar's contract, set at €222 million or £195million.
That's a staggering amount of money if true, but I'm also wondering how much his dad will pocket on the sly like they did when Neymar joined Barcelona.

Not quite up to the level of £300 million spent on Rovers in 1995 to win the league. Even Red Bull Leipzig have more sporting pedigree.

Looks like another signing we'll be missing out on. Shocking lack of ambition from the club.

Henning berg £400,000 never won a trophy
Colin hendry £700,000 never won a trophy
Ian Pearce £600,000(Tony gale played too, free) both never won a trophy
Graeme le saux £600,000 plus Steve Livingstone(£400,000 value) never won a trophy
Stuart Ripley £1.2m never won a trophy
Tim Sherwood £500,000 never won a trophy
Mark Atkins £75,000(David batty played about 3 games, £2.1m) atkins never won trophy, batty won league once
Jason wilcox youth team product(Robbie slater played following Wilcox injury, £900,000) both never won a trophy
Alan shearer £3.3m never won a trophy
Chris Sutton 5m(Kevin gallacher played once, 1.5m) both never won a trophy
Hardly £300 million. That squad winning the league was a phenomenal achievement against a stellar experienced successful man utd team, only eclipsed by Leicesters recent success. I would argue though that Leicester are a big city club, diluting their achievement against rovers small town team.
Re: Neymar to PSG £195million, possibly agreed.
Leicester were not blowing any of the big 4 out of the water tho with transfer fees and wages.
Walker and his cash was the beginning of the madness.
Bought you the title and fair play to him.he lived the dream that every small club supporter fantasies about.
Hes gone and look at you now, says it all.

I just don't understand this.
Will PSG recoup over £195M over the course of Neymars contract? It doesn't make sense if they aren't. It makes even less sense if all it's for us to win a worthless and meaningless trophy at the end of the season.
For it to be a real achievement, the title has to be won whilst operating solvently.

Sadly, yes. Football is a global brand now. Shirt sales, tv revenue, sponsorship, corporate rates up and maybe they'll win something. Small change to the wealthy Arab owners, who just regard it as a toy.ClaretEngineer wrote: Will PSG recoup over £195M over the course of Neymars contract?.

Kenny Dalglish never won a trophy? That money list in today's prices would be quite different.

It's not exactly normal to go from managing the most successful club in English history (at the time) to a club with respect to the status of Blackburn.

Shearer was a record buy for an English club at the time. That's the equivalent of Pogba for £89.7 now. Ripley was a third of that - let's call it £30m. Sutton would also be £70m-ish now.
You made Flowers the most expensive keeper in Britain - another £35m in today's terms.

Factor in inflation and £300 million probably isn't a bad figure to arrive at.
I've seen it thrown around elsewhere when someone was baiting Rovers fans and it sounded about right.

Now you know why the WC is to be held in Qatar.
Huge military order for French, take over of PSG. Utter madness.
Mind you, same with Man City & other big 'English' clubs under foreign ownership.
Financial fair play only counts for the small clubs.
Just think how many mouths you can feed with 195 million quid

Barca may be quids in but Spanish League are far from happy. This could have major repercussions as it leaves any idea of FFP even as a front in tatters.
This could be the straw that finally makes football actually seriously look at is this really where they want the "sport" to go.

La Liga aren't happy because this shows that the balance of European footballing power might be on the move from Spain to France....
I'd also imagine that if any complaints about this breaking FFP regulations are made to UEFA that a halfway competent employment lawyer will be in court as quick as you can imagine saying that the current level of buy out clauses in contract now equate to restraint of trade and need removing or all contracts to be made null and void as they contravene employment legislation. That should make several European clubs panic as their sky high release clauses might be worthless and player power might mean that players get the moves they want at a lot lower price than some clubs want....

Here in the "English" part of Canada, we always enjoy getting our licks in on the Frenchies. Arrogant sots, they are. Besides, their hockey club has been superior to ours for about the last 50 years.

Re: Neymar to PSG £195million, possibly agreed.
I cannot help but think back to previous "goldmines" of football - Germany (Hamburg £1m for Keegan), German league football faded for years in the wilderness. The first US soccer league threw money at it and suddenly the bubble burst. The French League more or less ground to a halt because of frauds, same with the Italian league a few years ago.
Football is getting too powerful, with far too much money in it for it not to be open to all kinds of illegal stuff and too powerful for Governments to turn a blind eye forever. There is no care being taken of the foundation to support the structure, if we continue on this road there will end up being a World series of football with 4 or 5 "Franchises" in the European capitols and the rest split between the USA and China.

What's ruining football is the regular players going for big money and on big wages.

Similar case to freedom of contract, the club gets the player free or at a cut price fee, but pays high wages or a large signing on fee, player power in action again.BurnleyPaul wrote:La Liga aren't happy because this shows that the balance of European footballing power might be on the move from Spain to France....
