If there's not thousands lining the fairways today, two drives on the back nine are reloads. First no one's finding that ball he ended up getting a nice drop on the range from, and on the 17th he hits a spectator where you or I would've had to watch our ball skip into bushes and oblivion.
Totally agree. You can't take the first three days away from him, he was consistently solid / good, but yesterday was a real shambles apart from 3 holes. He got a lot of luck with his wayward tee shots, but the biggest factor for me was nobody really put him under any pressure. He put himself in trouble and got himself out.
As much as I like Kuchar he hasn't got a winners instinct. It was there for him to win yesterday but he played percentage shots at the wrong time rather than going for the kill. The par 3 14th was a prime example. He had to go for the pin and put pressure on Speith after the debacle on the 13th. Had Kuchar done that and put his ball within birdie territory the pressure on Speith would have been huge.
Rory was the same at that time. Speith was rocking when Rory was hitting the two par 5's. His 6 on the 15th killed his round. Had he managed birdie on that hole, added to the eagle on 17, he would have hit 7 under and I think Speith would have been worried.

I'm not a huge follower of golf but his repositioning on 13th was laughable.

Huge mistake by R&A not making practice ground out of bounds. Since when have the tour vans been parked `in play`. Speith took full advantage of their error. Unplayable lie rule clearly needs changing. Not convinced that where Speith took his first drop was on the correct line either. Leaving Kuchar waiting in the fairway for 20 mins totally swung the momentum. Not cheating but as close as you can get to it.

Think Kuchar is just too nice and content with picking up the prize money for all his top 5, top 10 finishes. Doesn't have the same winners instinct that the likes of Faldo, Woods and Spieth have. Certainly with Woods when he was at his peak no one really had a good word to say about him as a person, get the impression Faldo was similar.

Kuchar played fine yesterday - he didn't bottle it and did not play negatively either. Spieth was just a lot better.
Rory if anything went for it too much - especially on Saturday. At Birkdale nothing to be gained on some holes by smashing your driver as every chance you'll end up in a pot bunker which means you've lost one shot at least. Once Rory had got to 4 or 5 under he should have kept himself in with a chance for the final round.
As for Spieths round being a shamble but for 3 holes....mmmm - hardly a shambles. He shot 69 - his 4th round in the 60s. If you want to see a shambles have a look at the world no 1s round yesterday. Spieth's round was 8 shots better and DJ has just shot a 64 on the Saturday (which could easily have been a 61)
Spieth was just too good for the rest of the field - he was nervous yesterday and admitted so. Plus it's hard to be leading and work out a way of staying in front.
He got lucky on the 13th but he played a great shot in and that was a great bogey. The way he played after that was as good as you will see in the final stretch of a major.

Don't bring DJ into it!! He cost me 6 timer yesterday on the 2 ball market, I am convinced he actually gave up on hole 1 yesterday and just sulked his way round 18 holes.
