Re: Game abandoned?
As far as I could see from the JHU, no actual fighting between our fans and thiers.
Weird how it all kicked off though.
Lots of kids around though (including my two) which makes it even weirder.

Re: Game abandoned?
Shame on any Burnley fan involved. The Club will be mentioned in news articles around the world and our true fans will now be treated with mistrust at all the grounds this year.
Don't give me "It was all the German's fault". Taunting of fans occurs at every game.
Our Club's growing international reputation has today been tarnished by a few idiots. I hope the Club ban anyone involved.

Re: Game abandoned?
It was clear from before KO that trouble wasn't far away.
The Hannover fans were chanting about hating England/English and then started ripping off the large seat covers because they wanted to stand further forward than they were being permitted to go. This caused a few early scuffles with Police/Stewards and several of them were tumbling over seats and down steps. This was before the game had started.
It then calmed down for a while and they seemed content to resume chanting about their dislike of England.
Just before Mee scored it all kicked off for reasons that weren't obvious to the likes of me in the Bob Lord. A few Burnley fans stood their ground but most moved as far away as possible for fear of being hit by flying debris. It was one-sided.
I don't know if there were a few Burnley fans singing anti-German songs (I couldn't hear any, but that's not to say they weren't), but it's really hard to fathom what provoked the behaviour of those Hannover lunatics today.

Just want to qualify what has been said, but unless some Burnley fan managed to shout across that he'd shagged all their mothers in excellent German our lot completely blameless*
*bomber signals and chants about the war excepted of course. But that is sadly normal for England v Germany games and doesn't have that reaction normally.

The female officer is one of the only ones doing something, trying to reason and talk to the fans. Just come back, absolutely rediculous, I truly hope Hannover get a fat bill for policing and damage, possibly comp for fans. Poor young un's would have been traumatised.

Burnley fans did nothing wrong. Some banter between fans, same as you see any Saturday. All we did was stand our ground.

Re: Game abandoned?
No doubt in my mind that the German fans were there for one reason only, and that certainly wasn't to watch a game of football.
Just hope there were no serious injuries, but the way those seats were being launched into the Burnley section I'll be amazed if no-one was hurt.

Their fans surged forward before the game started and discarded some tarpaulin draped across the front seats - that should have been a warning sign

Re: Game abandoned?
Hanover fans came for trouble, no doubt about that and the police presence outside pre ko proved that. The problem was the way the police handled the situation, there response was pathetic and limp wristed at best. Burnley fans were totally blameless. The blame lies at the hands of the Germans and the pure lack of policeing.
Never seen such a pathetic response from the old Bill. Coppers back in the 70s would have been in there element and loved dealing with that rabble. Police force like this message board has been over taken by the political correct lefties

Then there would have been real violence, the kind too many on here sound as if they revel in, minimising risk of injury or death has to be the biggest priority

Re: Game abandoned?
As I understand it, we have to pay a fee to these clubs for them to come and play us. I do hope that any such fee is either refunded or not paid in this case. I also hope Hannover are severely punished by their FA. Behaviour of their fans is beyond disgraceful!!
